Marillion, Brave: Deluxe Edition (Parlophone/Rhino, 2018)
Following the release of last year’s remixed expansion of Misplaced Childhood, neo-prog rockers Marillion are jumping ahead to one of their top albums of the 1990s to reissue: 1994’s Brave, their seventh album. A 4CD/1Blu-ray expanded box set of the album arrives today from Parlophone/Rhino including Steven Wilson’s remixes in both 5.1 surround and stereo! Omnivore delivers the first-ever anthology dedicated to Uncle Walt’s Band, a rootsy South Carolina collective that gained fame on the Texas music scene in the 1970s and early 1980s.
Omnivore revisits the music of the late experimental composer John Cage with this newly-recorded performance of a little-known 1964 Cage composition in which he instructed the performer playing it to select parts of his Music for Piano 4-84 and use electronic equipment; the rest was left up to the performer – in this case, Tania Chen and a group of Cage devotees including Thurston Moore.
Another massive box collecting the Leonard Bernstein oeuvre arrives today, this one a limited, numbered set with 121 CDs, 36 DVDs, and a Blu-ray Audio disc collecting the maestro’s early recordings for Decca and late-period work at DG.
The adventurous artist and Talking Heads founder returns with his first solo album in 14 years, featuring a number of songs co-written by his frequent collaborator Brian Eno. Available on CD, digital, and vinyl.
Fat Possum has a companion album (available on digital platforms and vinyl) to author Robert Gordon’s new book exploring the blues, rock, and soul of music capital Memphis. The album includes previously unheard recordings by Jerry Lee Lewis, Alex Chilton, and more!
Justin Hinds, Know Jah Better / Travel with Love (Omnivore)
Omnivore continues its series from the Nighthawk Recordings catalogue with two more deluxe reissues including an expanded reissue of Justin Hinds and the Dominoes’ 1984 ska/rocksteady classic Travel with Love!
