A Bigger Bang: The Rolling Stones Collect Fifteen Studio Albums On New Box Set

Start them up! On June 15, The Rolling Stones will release a massive, limited edition vinyl box set collecting the legendary band’s 15 studio albums from Sticky Fingers (1971) to Blue and Lonesome (2016) on 20 meticulously-recreated LPs. The box coincides with the Stones’ No Filter tour, kicking off this May in Dublin, Ireland.

The release from Universal Music will take the form of a “highly bespoke, lenticular mounted” limited edition box. Each album, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, has been remastered and cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios from vinyl-specific tape transfers. In addition, each album will include a download card for HD digital files. The box itself boasts a numbered certificate.

The Studio Albums Vinyl Collection 1971-2016 contains each album with intricate original packaging bonuses, from the working zipper on Sticky Fingers to the postcards in Exile on Main St and cut outs in Some Girls. The box contains the following albums:

LP sleeve presented as Andy Warhol’s original design complete with working zip and hidden image beneath

LP in original style gatefold sleeve complete with inner-bags and set of 12 perforated postcards

LP housed in replica design including 20 cut-outs on the cover

LP with original heavyweight inner sleeve and lyric sheet

Dirty Work (1986)
LP with original heavyweight inner sleeve, red shrink wrapping and bespoke sticker

JOE MARCHESE (Editor) joined The Second Disc shortly after its launch in early 2010, and has since penned daily news and reviews about classic music of all genres. Joe has written liner notes, produced, or contributed to over 200 reissues from a diverse array of artists, among them America, JD Souther, Nat "King" Cole, Paul Williams, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield, BJ Thomas, The 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, The Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters, Perry Como, Rod McKuen, Doris Day, Jackie DeShannon, Petula Clark, Robert Goulet, and Andy Williams.

Over the past two decades, Joe has also worked in a variety of capacities on and off Broadway as well as at some of the premier theatres in the U.S., including Lincoln Center Theater, George Street Playhouse, Paper Mill Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, and the York Theatre Company. He has felt privileged to work on productions alongside artists such as the late Jack Klugman, Eli Wallach, Arthur Laurents, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. In 2009, Joe began contributing theatre and music reviews to the print publication The Sondheim Review, and in 2012, he joined the staff of The Digital Bits as a regular contributor writing about film and television on DVD and Blu-ray.

Joe currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.
