David Bowie, Welcome to the Blackout (Live London '78) (Parlophone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
This live 2-CD album features performances recorded at Earl's Court in London on June 30 and July 1, 1978 during David Bowie's "Isolar II" Tour. This stand ended the second, European leg of the tour. Tony Visconti, who produced more than a dozen albums for Bowie throughout his career, recorded the 1978 concert which was later mixed by Bowie and David Richards in Montreux, Switzerland for a possible live album at the time. It would ultimately be the Stages live compilation that would represent the tour for audiences and this concert would not be heard until its debut on Record Store Day 2018. Impulse! Records has discovered a lost 1963 album from The John Coltrane Quartet. Saxophone titan Coltrane was joined by Jimmy Garrison on double bass, Elvin Jones on drums, and McCoy Tyner on piano - the same group behind the monumental A Love Supreme and other Coltrane classics - for a March 6, 1963 session that will see release as Both Directions at Once: The Lost Album. Chicago II: Live on Soundstage captures the band's November 2017 performances at the Grainger Studio in their hometown, performing the classic 1970 album Chicago II. The concert is available today on a single CD and a CD/DVD set with video of the program and 5.1 audio. In August, both the CD and DVD will be included on a Chicago II box set along with Steven Wilson's remix of the original album on both CD and LP. The concert audio is also available digitally and via streaming services. The Feeling celebrates 12 years of 12 Stops with this deluxe digibook edition of the English pop band's 2006 album which yielded three U.K. top ten hits. I'm really glad they are doing actual physical CDs again. I hope they go back and release whatever digital only things they did on CD as well, I didn't get any of those. Not sure how many I missed but digital is just not my thing.
