A Deal With God: Kate Bush’s Catalogue Remastered For CD, Vinyl Box Sets

BUY “CD BOX 1” FROM AMAZON.CO.UK

Kate Bush was just nineteen years old when her debut single “Wuthering Heights” topped the U.K. Singles Chart for four weeks in 1978.  Since that time, the singer-songwriter has placed 25 singles within the chart’s top 40 and released ten studio albums.  She became the first British solo female artist to top the country’s album chart and the first female artist, period, to enter the album chart at No. 1.  Yet despite such accolades, Bush has never wavered from her own, truly singular career path.  Her most recent album, 2016’s live Before the Dawn, chronicled her 2014 theatrical concerts at London’s Hammersmith Apollo – her first stage appearances in 35 years.  Yesterday, Bush announced her first-ever program of reissues, encompassing her entire catalogue.  This November, remastered versions of every one of her albums will arrive on CD and vinyl along with numerous rarities.

The vinyl albums – comprising all ten of the artist’s studio albums – will be released in four separate box sets.  The first two, the 4-LP Vinyl Box 1 and the 3-LP Vinyl Box 2, will be available on November 16.  The concluding pair, the 6-LP Vinyl Box 3 and 4-LP Vinyl Box 4, will be released two weeks later, on November 30.  Vinyl Box 4 exclusively consists of rare tracks, with one LP of 12-inch mixes, two LPs of singles and B-sides, and a fourth of Kate’s interpretation of other songwriters’ compositions, from Gershwin to John and Taupin.

As for the compact disc configurations, CD Box 1 (7 discs) and CD Box 2 (11 discs) will also be available in November, with Box 1 arriving on November 16 and Box 2 on November 30.  Note that Before the Dawn is included in CD Box 2 in its original mastering along with all of the above-referenced bonus discs.

All of the albums other than Before the Dawn have been remastered by Kate Bush and James Guthrie.  Additionally, all of the individual studio albums will be available as standalone CDs.  The rarities collections are exclusive to the box sets.

These deluxe sets celebrating the remarkable musical legacy of Kate Bush are due from Parlophone/Rhino on November 16 and 30.  You can peruse the track listings below as well as pre-order links, some of which are not yet active!

  1. Any word on hi-res downloads? And will the LPs be AAA or cut from digital files? Rather disappointjng that the rarities collection is far from complete. Guess I’ll have to hold on to my This Woman’s Work box.

    1. Why don’t we forget about THE WHOLE STORY altogether? That was a “catch up!” comp for all the MTV children (read: Johnny-Come-Lately’s) that only came aboard with “Running Up That Hill.” The remixes on that comp are featured in the new LP box, anyway.
