Originally released in 1988, Hangin' Tough was the breakthrough album by pop sensation New Kids On The Block. With such hits as "Please Don't Go Girl," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)," "Hangin' Tough," and "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," the album garnered critical acclaim, a Grammy nomination, and two American Music Awards (Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.) It has since sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and been certified 8x Platinum in the U.S.
Now, NKOTB's career defining album has been revisited for its 30th anniversary. On March 8, Columbia/Legacy Recordings will release Hangin' Tough: 30th Anniversary Edition. This new version will include all ten original songs from the 1988 album, as well as three brand-new tracks. Among those three songs is their newest single, "80s Baby," which features Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature, Tiffany, and Debbie Gibson, who will be heading out on tour with New Kids On The Block next spring. Also included on the new reissue are five rare remix tracks, including two that are previously unreleased in the U.S.!
The collection will be available digitally, on CD, and as a collectible 2-LP picture disc set. A cassette version and several different merchandise bundles are available exclusively through NKOTB's website. All configurations will be available on March 8. Excellent review. Thank you. However, I have a few comments and notes. "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" is listed as 7" Version, not 7" Remix, on the band's official website. From my understanding, it is simply an edit of the album version, not a remix. "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" is actually the 7" Remix, featured on the B-side of the single (the A-side is the album version), even though the official website lists it as 7" Version. "Cover Girl [7" Remix]" is denoted as being previously unreleased in the U.S. My understanding is that the U.S. 7" single features the 7" Remix, although it is uncredited. Since the remix is not mentioned anywhere on the 7", the label probably assumes that the album version was pressed.

Hi Jason, Thanks for the feedback! The information here was based on the press materials I received from the label. It's interesting that the NKOTB website lists some things differently. Without hearing the set, it's sometimes hard for me to discern exactly which mixes are which but I appreciate your input!

Hi, Sam. I figured that the track selection above was provided to you. It's just interesting to note the differences in how certain versions are labeled.

Hi, Sam. Thanks for the reply. I realize that you are just publishing the information given to you. I just wanted to throw these things out there in case people are questioning which versions are going to be included. Many times record companies are inconsistent with how they label a particular version (i.e. "edit" vs. "version" vs. "remix" vs. "mix" etc.) Regardless, this looks to be an excellent single disc overview! I'll probably even get a copy.
