New Kids on the Block are going back to where it all restarted. The Boston boy band, a sensation of the late ’80s and early ’90s, are reissuing their 2008 reunion album The Block.

The Block Revisited, available November 3, will feature the original album and nine bonus tracks on CD or two LPs, including the unreleased fan favorite “Coming Home” and a new remix of the track “Dirty Dancing” recorded with K-pop outfit SEVENTEEN. Digital editions will include a further eight bonus tracks, including four unheard songs from the album sessions.

To a certain generation of girls who grew up with Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood on radio airwaves, MTV, and an assortment of merchandise, the NKOTB reunion was a bit like getting The Beatles back together. The Block found the quintet returning to their pop and R&B roots with the aid of a lot of then-current collaborators, including Akon, RedOne, Polow Da Don, Teddy Riley Timbaland and even a young up-and-coming singer/songwriter known as Lady Gaga, who co-wrote and sang on the track “Big Girl Now” and wrote “Full Service,” a team-up with another Boston-based quintet, New Edition. Lead single “Summertime” cracked the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 – their first song to do so since 1991 – and the group embarked on their first of many tours that summer (with Gaga as a support act, a real “where were they then” scenario).

Though the group hasn’t released a proper album since 2013’s 10, they remain an in-demand live act, often embarking on joint concert treks with other hitmakers of their generation or those influenced by them, including the Backstreet Boys, Salt-N-Pepa, Paula Abdul, Boyz II Men, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany and others – usually accompanied by a catchy one-off single with a clever video to boot.
