The Big Sky: Kate Bush’s “The Other Sides” Getting Standalone Release In March

BUY NOW FROM AMAZON.COM

Last year, Kate Bush surprised fans with a series of fully-remastered box sets presenting her entire albums discography plus numerous bonuses on CD and vinyl.  The second CD box (the simply-titled CD Box 2) included four discs of rare bonus material, all of which were also released as the fourth vinyl box (Remastered in Vinyl IV).  Now, those four CDs are being broken out on their own.

The Other Sides, due on March 8 from Parlophone, brings together one disc of extended 12-inch mixes, two discs of assorted odds and ends, and one disc of Bush’s interpretations of others’ words and music.  12″ Mixes has five such tracks originally released in 1985 and 1986 related to Bush’s all-time classic Hounds of Love.  The second and third discs feature 20 songs originally issued on singles as well as soundtrack performances from Castaway and The Golden Compass, a remix/re-recording from the compilation The Whole Story, and the previously unreleased “Humming.”  In Other’s Words features Bush’s interpretations of songs by Elton John (“Rocket Man,” “Candle in the Wind”), Marvin Gaye (“Sexual Healing”), and George and Ira Gershwin (“The Man I Love”) among its nine tracks.

Look for the 4-CD collection of The Other Sides from Parlophone on March 8 at the links below!  In the meantime, check out our review of the first two Remastered in Vinyl boxes.

  1. From the initial news story about the boxes:

“Additionally, all of the individual studio albums will be available as standalone CDs. The rarities collections are exclusive to the box sets.”

Now the rarities are being separated from the boxes. I don’t know how to feel about that.

    1. To be honest, I have no problem with it coming out separately because I wanted and bought both CD boxes…I am bummed that stuff was left off…but I would be truly upset if they put it out with more stuff added…maybe another volume of “Other Sides” will come out in the future…gather up all missing stuff…
