Remember A Day: Mono Mix of Pink Floyd’s “Saucerful of Secrets” Arriving for Record Store Day

Vinyl aficionados worldwide are gearing up for, or at least saving up for, Record Store Day. The official list is set to drop any day now, but today Legacy Recordings has announced one highly anticipated release from the early days of Pink Floyd: the original mono mix of their second album, 1968’s A Saucerful of Secrets. The limited-edition LP will be a Record Store exclusive, available from independent record shops on Saturday, April 13th.

Saucerful is the only album to feature the “five-man Floyd” lineup of Roger Waters on bass and vocals, Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals, Nick Mason on drums, along with Syd Barrett and Syd’s future-replacement, David Gilmour on guitar and vocals. With psychedelic classics like “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun,” “Remember a Day,” and Barrett’s swan song “Jugband Blues,” the album remains a fan favorite and its mono mix a hard-to-find gem for Pink Floyd collectors.

For this occasion, the original mono mix of A Saucerful of Secrets has been remastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante, and Bernie Grundman from the original 1968 analog tapes and will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl. It will be presented in a black, poly-lined inner sleeve inside a reproduction of the original LP, down to the Columbia logo.

Timed with the announcement, a music video of the album’s opening track “Let There Be More Light” has been released. You can check it out below!

Wow. Hard to believe that RSD is approaching already. Time sure zips right by. Anxious to see what this years titles will be.
