When Phil Collins' Take a Look At Me Now... reissue campaign commenced in 2016, some fans were understandably, justifiably sore at the exclusion of most of his rarest material - non-LP B-sides and remixes - in favor of unreleased demos or, more often, non-contemporaneous live material sitting next to the original albums on bonus discs. This month, Rhino will finally collect that much-coveted material - albeit in digital form - on two new compilations: Other Sides and Remixed Sides, due May 31.
Other Sides collects hard-to-find singles, instrumentals, demos, and soundtrack recordings originally released between 1981 and 2003. It kicks off with three Face Value-era demos originally released on the Netherlands edition of the "If Leaving Me Is Easy" single. Other highlights include "Homeless" (a demo version of "Another Day In Paradise"), "It's Everywhere" from a European promo of You Ought to Know issued for Toyota, and the B-sides "Rad Dudeski," "Around the World in 80 Presets," and "For a Friend." All the tracks on Other Sides are making their digital debut on the collection.
Remixed Sides brings together classic extended versions, dub remakes, and other contemporaneous remixes of Phil Collins favorites from the '80s and '90s. These include many versions of "In the Air Tonight," "Wear My Hat," and "Hang in Long Enough," as well as extended mixes of such hits as "Take Me Home" and "Sussudio," along with a megamix of "Sussudio/Don't Lose My Number/You Can't Hurry Love."
To preview the collections, Atlantic/Rhino have released two singles: "The Man With the Horn" from Other Sides (originally released on the "Sussudio" single in the U.K.) and "The Roof is Leaking (Nicka's Stella Polaris Interpretation)." The latter remix was previously only available on a hard-to-find various artist remix compilation from Denmark. So whet your appetites with the two singles below and get ready to enjoy a wealth of hard-to-find Phil Collins tracks arriving online on May 31!

But THIS is what I wanted on CD when the remasters came out. Well I guess at least we can stream it. Probably will end up a Record Store Day only vinyl release someday
Ed says
No cd, no buy
RichD says
Agreed !!!
alcibiade resnick says
you are absolutly right my friend.this digital stuff is so easy to have for free.of course i'll buy the cd when it get out.
David says
Now if some of this stuff had been on the previous CD re-issues, they would have sold a lot more copies. But then again, this could be a coldly calculated plan to kill off CD by showing how this digital crap sold better than the physical copies. Apples and oranges and greed.
smirkdj says
no cd = no sale
don’t buy it,we should all boycot the digital release!!!! nobody who bought the physical reissue campaign sets is interested in digital only,so RELEASE THIS AS A CD BOX SET(3cd’s)
i hope many people demands from the recordcomapy to release this physcial and of course hope they would listen to the buying public for once
Stefano says
Many Phil Collins fans are likely to be CD buyers (due to their age). That makes a digital only release kind of bizarre.
Furthermore Warner apparently doesn't know (anymore) that the 7 inch single of 'In the Air Tonight' was a remix. This version is nowhere to be found on Phil Collins compilations, nor on the latest reissues. Not happy about that, to say the least.
Patrick says
That’s a no go for me.
I want my music in full resolution, not a crappy compressed iTunes format.
Fleetwood Mac got the full blown physical release, it’s the same target audience no ?
Warner, do a little market research and get to know your customers.
Paul says
More digital garbage!!!
I purchased all of the CD reissues, and was so looking forward to this. Warner just doesn't get it. If something should released on CD, it is this.
David S says
Please, please, please release this incredible album on a CD!
Ed says
The Super Deluxe Edition site got it right in its assessement of the reissue campaign, especially this digital only decision and wasnt afraid to offer an opinion.
