Get a Tiger By the Tail: Omnivore Offers Sealed, Original Buck Owens LPs from Buck’s Own Collection

May 30, 2019 By Joe Marchese 2 Comments

VISIT OMNIVORE’S WEBSTORE NOW

Tomorrow, May 31, Omnivore Recordings releases the third and final volume of country legend Buck Owens’ Capitol Records singles – the most recent in a long-running series of releases on Omnivore from the late Bakersfield, California-based artist, songwriter, musician, and bandleader.  Now, the label is teaming with Owens’ estate for a special initiative also beginning Friday.

Forty original, vintage, sealed Buck Owens LPs will be made available for sale exclusively through Omnivore’s webstore. The records come directly from Owens’ own vaults at the Crystal Palace in Bakersfield. These original-pressing LPs span the period from 1964’s Together Again/My Heart Skips a Beat to 1989’s Act Naturally, and encompass many of Buck’s greatest and most beloved recordings including studio albums, live sets, compilations, and special albums of gospel, instrumental favorites, and Christmas songs.  Many of these albums are hard to find or have never been released in the CD format (outside of the large Bear Family box sets), and sealed, original LP pressings may be even harder to track down at a reasonable price.  So this is the perfect opportunity to begin a Buck Owens vinyl collection or fill in the gaps in your existing collection.  (Note that because these are sealed, vintage stock, anomalies may exist, but Omnivore cannot offer any returns or replacements.)

Naturally, quantities are limited; the LPs will be sold on a first come, first served basis.  Every album will come with a Certificate of Authenticity.  The Buck Owens vintage vinyl collection goes on sale Friday, May 31 at Omnivore Recordings’ webstore.  You’ll find the complete list of LPs below!

Wow! and they aren’t trying to gouge fans by charging exorbitant secondary market prices on this amazing vault inventory, unlike another recent sale. I am certainly going to try to pick up a few of these LPs.
