With a Fire In His Heart: George Michael Classics Power 'Last Christmas' Soundtrack

An upcoming holiday film is taking its cues from a classic song from George Michael and Wham! On November 8 in the U.S. and November 15 in the U.K., Last Christmas will arrive in cinemas. Legacy Recordings will issue the soundtrack, featuring one previously unheard George Michael song and an array of his classics, on November 8 in CD, vinyl, and digital formats.

In spring 2013, screenwriter-actress Emma Thompson visited Michael to earn his blessing for the film. Michael consented, leading to the romantic comedy starring Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh, and Thompson. "The wisdom and emotional scope of George's lyrics have always amazed me," Thompson notes in Legacy's press release. "So many feel like they were written for the movie. After I met George and experienced his compassion and understanding up close, I realized that in fact the movie was written for those lyrics."

All songs on the soundtrack were written, arranged and produced by George Michael, except the previously unreleased "This Is How (We Want You To Get High)," which was co-written and co-produced by George Michael and James Jackman. Other songs featured on the soundtrack include "Faith," "Fastlove," "Freedom '90," and "Too Funky" as well as "Heal The Pain," "Waiting for that Day," and the MTV Unplugged version of "Praying For Time." Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" and "Everything She Wants" are also included.

A vinyl edition is available now for pre-order in the U.K. with an extended version of "This Is How (We Want You to Get High)."  Look for Last Christmas in theatres and in finer record stores everywhere on November 8 from Legacy Recordings. You'll find the track listing and pre-order links below!
