On October 5, 1969, Monty Python's Flying Circus appeared on TV for the first time, and their unique brand of sketch- and music-based comedy has since become an indelible part of our culture. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the surviving members of Monty Python will launch re-releases of their films and their landmark television series. They've also begun to revisit their classic albums with recently released reissues of Monty Python's Previous Record, Live At Drury Lane, The Album Of The Soundtrack Of The Trailer Of The Film Of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, and The Meaning of Life.
The newest in the series is set a 2-LP reissue of Monty Python Sings (again). Out now from UMC, this is the first-ever vinyl reissue of the album, which was first released in 1989 as Monty Python Sings, then expanded in 2014 to the tune of six additional tracks and released as Monty Python Sings (again).
The compilation brings together 31 of Monty Python's most beloved songs, including "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life," "The Lumberjack Song" (produced by George Harrison), "Knights of the Round Table (Camelot Song)" and, of course, "Spam Song." There's also two rare tracks -- "Oliver Cromwell" from the Contractual Obligation sessions and Terry Gilliam's take on "I've Got Two Legs" with studio vocals. And for the collectors out there, it's worth noting that "Lumberjack," "Henry Kissinger," and "Bruces' Philosophers Song" appear in a remixed form with alternate vocals. New to the 2019 reissue is "Stephen Hawking Sings... The Galaxy Song," previously only available on a limited-edition Record Store Day 2015 single.
The new vinyl edition of Monty Python Sings (again) is presented on 180-gram double vinyl featuring a Monty Python 50 logo etching on side 4. The records will be housed in printed inner sleeves (featuring new art from the Terry Gilliam archive) all inside a luxurious, die-cut gatefold package. The design features Monty Python artwork and classic images and a rare outtake group photo by Andy Gotts which was previously used on the 2014 CD edition. And for those who like their Monty Python on-the-go, the reissue will also include a download code for the album.
With new artwork elements, bonus tracks, and hard-to-find songs, Monty Python Sings (again) is bound to delight any Monty Python fan and vinyl aficionado! You can peruse the track listing and place your orders with the links below!
