Twenty years ago, David Bowie appeared on the stripped-down TV series VH1 Storytellers to play a career-spanning set and tell the tales behind his songs. As DavidBowie.com reported, the musician delved deep into his back catalog "to perform tracks such as 'Can't Help Thinking About Me' for the first time in 33 years, Aladdin Sane's 'Drive-In Saturday' which he had not performed since 1974 and 'Word On A Wing' which received its first outing in 23 years."
The broadcast gained legendary status among super-fans, who were finally treated to an official release of the CD and DVD in 2009. But the CD was incomplete, with truncated versions of key tracks, while the iTunes edition and DVD teased four hidden bonus tracks. Tomorrow, October 11, Parlophone will release the collection on vinyl for the first time ever, presenting the most complete edition of the concert yet. Spread across its four sides are the quartet of bonus tracks that were previously only available as Easter eggs on the original DVD or as iTunes downloads: "Survive," "I Can't Read," "Always Crashing in the Same Car," and "If I'm Dreaming My Life."
With hilarious stories and a wide-reaching setlist of hits, new tracks, and rarities alike, Bowie's VH1 Storytellers appearance was one of the most unique of the series. Parlophone's double-LP release is a must for vinyl aficionados. Secure your copy now with the links below!
