November 13, 2019 By Joe Marchese 3 Comments

"A CLASSIC CHRISTMAS" HOSTS MARION ROSS AND GAVIN MACLEOD

Have you caught the Christmas spirit yet? If not, things are very likely to change on Saturday, November 16. That's when TJL Productions debuts a new special on PBS that's sure to get you ready for the holiday season. A Classic Christmas, part of T.J. Lubinsky's acclaimed My Music series, presents an array of yuletide favorites from an all-star roster of legendary artists.

Hosted by Marion Ross (Happy Days) and Gavin MacLeod (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Love Boat), A Classic Christmas is essential viewing for the entire family as it spotlights traditional Christmas carols ("Silent Night," "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing") as well as classic pop standards ("White Christmas," "Jingle Bells," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"), children's favorites ("Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Frosty The Snowman," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"), and romantic selections ("The Christmas Song," "Merry Christmas Darling").

NAT "KING" COLE

No stone has been unturned in locating rare, archival footage for this special dating from the 1950s through the 1970s. Performances from Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, The Carpenters, Andy Williams, Rosemary Clooney, Johnny Mathis, Gene Autry, Brenda Lee, Burl Ives, Mitzi Gaynor, The Beach Boys, The Lennon Sisters, Eddy Arnold, Mahalia Jackson, The Harry Simeone Chorale, Jimmy Boyd, Jose Feliciano, David Bowie, Mitch Miller, and The Drifters are all featured, as well as an all-new performance from the one and only Ronnie Spector recreating The Ronettes' holiday favorites.

DORIS DAY

My Music: A Classic Christmas debuts on Saturday, November 16 on Public Television stations nationwide. During the broadcast, viewers will have the opportunity to pledge to their local Public Television stations for two exclusive releases. A 4-CD set presents a whopping 100 classic Christmas hits by many of the above-mentioned artists as well as The Supremes, Elvis Presley, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Robert Goulet, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Harry Belafonte, The Miracles and others.

The exclusive PBS-only DVD has all of the songs from the broadcast version plus an additional seven performances from artists including Andy Williams with The Williams Brothers and The Osmond Brothers ("Happy Holiday/The Holiday Season"), Alvin and The Chipmunks ("The Chipmunk Song"), Johnny Mathis and The Young Americans ("Carol of the Bells"), and a special medley from Bing Crosby and family with Glen Campbell and The Lennon Sisters.
