Back To The ‘Boutique’: Beastie Boys Remixes Feature On EP Series

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Beastie Boys album Paul’s Boutique and the band has celebrated with the digital/streaming debut of 6 EPs of hard-to-find material.  The past months have seen the release of the 1989 EP An Exciting Evening At Home With Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, along with Love American Style EP, and newly curated collections from Capitol/UMe: Hey Ladies (Remixes), Shadrach (Remixes), Shake Your Rump (Remixes), and Looking Down The Barrel of a Gun (Remixes) .

These collections bring together a wealth of live versions, B-sides, remixes, edits, and other rarities which have been otherwise hard-to-find in one place for three decades.  Now, longtime fans and newcomers alike can enjoy these treasures from the vault.

Sam Stone

Sam Stone has been obsessed with catalog music ever since his folks gave him a Contours best-of collection for his fourth birthday. He quickly began to learn all he could about rock and roll history and beyond, a passion that continues to this day.

Sam followed his love for music to the classroom, earning a B.A. from Towson University in Electronic Media and Film, concentrating on radio and audio production, as well as an M.A. in Audio Arts from Syracuse University. He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience. When he’s not writing for The Second Disc, Sam can be found researching about music, talking about Joni Mitchell’s career, and adding another box set to his Amazon wish list.

  1. A missed opportunity here…they could have included their early E.P., Cookie Puss. I have that on vinyl since it first appeared in 1982 or 83. I keep hoping it will be released on CD some day.
