I’ve Been Loving You: Vinyl Me, Please Spotlights Stax Classics in New VMP Anthology Box

PRE-ORDER FROM VMP

Vinyl Me Please is at it again! Following their celebrations of Blue Note, Motown, and Ghostly International, the subscription service is set to release a new volume of their acclaimed VMP Anthology Series. This time, they’re shining a light on the history of Stax Records.

As with previous volumes, The Story of Stax Records will be told in four chapters. The eight albums included in the box will be wrapped in “secrecy sleeves” that can be unveiled at specific points in the journey. Though titles have not been revealed, VMP has announced the array of luminaries whose music will be included – Booker T. & The M.G.’s and Sam & Dave will be part of Episode One, while Otis Redding and The Bar-Kays will make up Episode Two. The third episode features Eddie Floyd and Johnnie Taylor, and rounding out the set will be Albert King and William Bell. Each disc has been cut all-analog from the original tapes by Ryan Smith, pressed at QRP on 180-gram vinyl, all housed in a newly designed commemorative box featuring the label’s iconic logo.

But the vinyl is only one part of the experience. Subscribers will also learn the story of the label through an exclusive podcast series featuring interviews with David Porter, Steve Cropper, William Bell, Booker T. Jones, and Stax expert Robert Gordon (who’s also contributed liner notes for each title.) If that weren’t enough, subscribers will also have access to a private online community, a pair of Stax holiday socks, and other bonuses.

The box set is available now to pre-order now, but it’s limited to only 1,000 copies so act now!

He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience.
