Let There Be More Light: Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets Celebrate Early Pink Floyd With “Live at The Roundhouse”

PRE-ORDER 2CD/DVD FROM AMAZON.COM

In 2018, Pink Floyd’s ever-dependable drummer, Nick Mason – the only member to appear on every Pink Floyd album – launched a world tour with the Saucerful of Secrets band in celebration of Pink Floyd’s early years. In a move that stunned the super-fans, he focused on pre-Dark Side of the Moon material, including obscurities like “Point Me at the Sky,” “Lucifer Sam,” “Let There Be More Light,” and many more.

Now, fans who weren’t able to catch the first legs of the tour can enjoy the show from the comfort of their home. On April 17, Pink Floyd Records will release Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets: Live at The Roundhouse on Blu-ray, DVD, and a 2CD/DVD bundle. Legacy Recordings has confirmed that the movie will include both a stereo and 5.1 soundtrack.  A double-LP set will also be released, pressed at MPO, and housed in a die-cut gatefold package.

The press release touts the nearly 2-hour experience as “the nearest thing you can get to a time machine,” and that’s not too far off. Nick Mason, Gary Kemp, Guy Pratt, Lee Harris, and Dom Beken expertly recreate the complex early psychedelia of Syd Barrett-era Floyd and (slightly) beyond. It’s all captured at London’s Roundhouse, where Pink Floyd performed some of their most celebrated early gigs. Crucially, only four songs from the Roundhouse set have ever previously appeared on official live releases by Pink Floyd or its members, so this film and it’s accompanying album are sure to be a treat for fans.  The DVD and Blu-ray discs will include two bonus features: rehearsal footage, and interviews with the band members.

Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets: Live at The Roundhouse will also be screened in movie theaters for one night only – March 10, 2020 – in collaboration with Trafalgar Releasing. The screenings will conclude with an exclusive Q&A bonus feature with Mason and the band answering questions from fans. You can purchase tickets and find your nearest participating theater here.

Physical and digital configurations of the album and film will be available April 17 and in addition to the standalone sets, the Nick Mason Online Shop has bundles available that include a poster signed by the whole band.

    Many thanks ..

    1. Hi David – Given their track record, I’d be very surprised if this Floyd-related release didn’t have a surround mix, especially given that it will be playing in theaters. But I’ll try to get confirmation for you and update the article accordingly. Thanks for reading!
