That's Hot! Paris Hilton's "Paris" Gets First-Ever Vinyl Reissue

February 13, 2020 By Sam Stone 16 Comments

PRE-ORDER FROM AMAZON.COM

If you happen to fall into that uber-specific collector niche of hotel heiress-turned-reality-star-turned-pop-stars, Real Gone Music has the LP for you.  On March 27, Paris Hilton's 2006 debut Paris arrives on maroon-and-blonde-hued vinyl pressing guaranteed to have you saying, "That's hot!"

Give the record a spin and you'll hear from all twelve of the album's producers, including Scott Storch, J. R. Rotem, Dr. Luke, and Rob Cavallo, who worked with the socialite to deliver a pop album that matches anything from her contemporaries.  The result, apparently, was pretty popular.  The CD shot up to #6 on the charts and sold 600,000 copies.

Now, the album -- which was famously parodied by British artist Banksy -- can find a new home in your LP collection.  The package features a clutch of very fetch photos emblazoned on the newly designed gatefold and the printed inner sleeve.

So if you're ready to turn it up and enjoy some time with Paris, you'll want to add this to the record library.  And for the haters out there, take it from Paris herself who famously said: "It's not my fault if people are still obsessed with me."

Paris Hilton, Paris [maroon and blonde vinyl] (originally released as Warner Bros. Records CD 9362-44138-2, 2006 -- reissued Real Gone Music, 2020) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

He quickly began to learn all he could about rock and roll history and beyond, a passion that continues to this day. Sam followed his love for music to the classroom, earning a B.A. from Towson University in Electronic Media and Film, concentrating on radio and audio production, as well as an M.A. in Audio Arts from Syracuse University. He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience. When he’s not writing for The Second Disc, Sam can be found researching about music, talking about Joni Mitchell’s career, and adding another box set to his Amazon wish list.

Yeah, this doesn't exactly rock my world. I wonder how many of those 600,000 copies are now in landfills.

Or how many of those 600,000 were purchased by Paris herself.

This has all the hallmarks of "weve cleared some good license requests, Joe. Would you put this out for us? We've got all the parts ready for you, your cash outlay is almost zero. I could have just said "quid pro quo" , but that has a stink to it. I know I've been asked in my past reissue producer life to issue stuff and Ive said yes and I've said no. Usually the project is ready, all you have to do is slap your logo on it. So...why not? The cosmetics are great it's a good vinyl colorway. It will sell.

With so many albums still out of print, it's quite sad that this was chosen to be reissued.

I realize Real Gone Music releases have become much more esoteric in recent years, but THIS is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Good grief.

Hah! Maybe it will sell 35 copies. To the same 35 people that saw her movie opening day in '06. This could spell the death of vinyl!

I know this is an easy release to dismiss and post snarky comments about, but it is actually a solid pop album. Paris does not have a very strong voice, but the songwriting and production are both top notch. This all combines together for a very pleasing pop album.

I'm sure it will sell well as there are definitely niche fans out there for this kind of stuff.

I just gave the CD another spin and it actually holds up well.

I think I'll hold out for Lindsay Lohan's album.

While I know your comment was meant as a joke, Lindsay does have a new album scheduled to be released soon. This will be her 3rd album and first since 2005.

So I guess you're in luck after all.
