Jump Over Here! Half-Speed Mastered Edition of CCR's "Cosmo's Factory" Due in August

June 17, 2020 By Sam Stone Leave a Comment

PRE-ORDER FROM AMAZON.COM

Last year, the audiophile community was raving about the excellent half-speed mastered 50th anniversary editions of Creedence Clearwater Revival's classic swamp-rock albums which had arrived in the form of a lavish 7-LP box.  Now, Craft Recordings has announced a standalone edition of the band's influential Cosmo's Factory pressed on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl and half-speed mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell using high-resolution transfers of the original analog tapes.  This break-out edition will hit shelves on August 14.

Originally released in July 1970, Cosmo's Factory was the band's fifth album in just two years, and while that pace could have worn other bands out, there's no shortage of excellent, inspired material here.  There's the country-tinged "Lookin' Out My Back Door," the swampy "Run Through the Jungle," and the folk-rock anthem "Who'll Stop the Rain."  Other favorites include the Little Richard tribute "Travelin' Band" and the ever-catchy "Up Around the Bend."  These singles hit the Billboard Top 5 in 1970 and remain mainstays on the radio fifty years on.

The standalone Cosmo's Factory is due August 14 and is available to pre-order now!  You'll find Amazon links below, along with a link to order from your local record shop.  In addition, Vinyl Me Please has announced a limited edition blue vinyl pressing of the album, available exclusively to subscribers.  If that's not enough, Craft Recordings is also offering an array of media-and-merch bundles.

Sam Stone

Sam Stone has been obsessed with catalog music ever since his folks gave him a Contours best-of collection for his fourth birthday. He quickly began to learn all he could about rock and roll history and beyond, a passion that continues to this day. Sam followed his love for music to the classroom, earning a B.A. from Towson University in Electronic Media and Film, concentrating on radio and audio production, as well as an M.A. in Audio Arts from Syracuse University. He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience. When he’s not writing for The Second Disc, Sam can be found researching about music, talking about Joni Mitchell’s career, and adding another box set to his Amazon wish list.
