Love them or hate them, Canadian rockers Nickelback were prevalent forces on the charts and on the radio throughout the first decade of the new millennium – and a new expanded reissue of one of their bestselling albums puts that popularity into context this fall.

All The Right Reasons, the band’s fifth album, will be reissued for its 15th anniversary on October 2. This 2CD set collects the remastered album, four rare B-sides from European CD singles (including a cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and three acoustic tracks, and the audio debut of a live set at the Buffalo Chip campground in Sturgis, South Dakota. (The concert was released on DVD in 2008.)

With All The Right Reasons, Nickelback had their third straight chart-topping album in their native country, as well as their first to reach the summit in America after the Top 5 peaks of 2001 breakthrough Silver Side Up and follow-up The Long Road (2003). While the group was certainly well-known outside of The Great White North at the time (2001’s “How You Remind Me” would become U.S. radio’s most played track of the 2000s) Reasons saw sustained sales and chart activity not commonly seen by traditional rock groups in the 21st century. Five singles reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 – “Photograph” (No. 2), “Far Away” (No. 8), “Savin’ Me” (No. 19), “Rockstar” (No. 6) and “If Everyone Cared” (No. 17) – and the album outsold any of their releases before or since, with a diamond certification for more than 10 million units shipped by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The success of the album led to some truly unusual reactions over the years, from the meme potential of the wistful, nostalgic “Photograph” video to the race to have a literal pickle outrank the amount of fans the band had on Facebook. But the band still carry on strong: their subsequent four albums between 2008 and 2017 all reached the Top 5 on each side of the U.S.-Canadian border, and the group remains a popular live draw. For fans, or the deeply curious, the expanded All The Right Reasons will be available October 2 and can be bought below.

  1. I’m not a Nickelback fan, but all easy jokes aside, this seems like a pretty nice package – couple B sides and a live disc added to the original on CD – for a decent price. Wish reissues like this became commonplace again.

  2. Nickelback, generic flyover rock du jour, not a fan, deserving of the bashing, reissued pointlessly…more worthy titles worth reissuing by Rhino than this piece of crappy generic rock with froglike vocals…radioplay?? Yep, lots of changing channels, like whack a mole…
