Change Gonna Come At Last: Neil Young Releases “The Times,” Featuring New Live Recordings of Protest Songs

PRE-ORDER CD FROM AMAZON.COM

Neil Young has taken a break from his deep-dives into the archives to announce the release of a new EP, The Times.  The 7-track set will arrive on September 18 as an Amazon Original release that can be streamed exclusively on Amazon Music HD in high resolution.  The album can also be enjoyed on NeilYoungArchives.com or on CD.

The Times features performances originally shared on the “Porch Sessions” episode of Neil Young’s livestreamed Fireside Sessions series.  The webcast found Neil Young revisiting political material from across his career, including “Ohio,” “Alabama,” “Southern Man,” and “Campaigner.”  The EP also features the revamped “Lookin’ For A Leader 2020,” an update to the topical track originally released on Living With War in 2006.  You’ll also hear a cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin'” and a new rendition of “Little Wing,” recently released on Homegrown.

Young has worked with Niko Bolas to prepare these “Porch Sessions” tracks for wide release, remastering them in high quality.  That quality is promised to be retained on the Amazon Music HD service, with the whole album available in 24-bit/48kHz FLAC.  If that weren’t enough, the full Porch Session video will also be available on demand on Prime Video starting on September 18.  To whet your appetite for The Times, Neil has released a couple of singles.  “The Times They Are A-Changin'” is available on Amazon Music, while “Looking For A Leader 2020” has been released across formats alongside a music video released to YouTube.  You can check it out below and peruse the tracklist of Neil Young’s latest musical statement.
