Behind That Locked Door: 50th Anniversary Celebrations for George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” Kick Off TODAY With Remixed Title Track, “My Sweet Lord” RSD Black Friday Release

“ALL THINGS MUST PASS” 2020 REMIX AVAILABLE TO STREAM AND DOWNLOAD

This morning, the estate of George Harrison has released a new 2020 remix of the artist’s classic song, “All Things Must Pass.”  Originally released 50 years ago today on the All Things Must Pass triple-album, it’s now released as a digital single as “a prelude of what’s to come.”

The new stereo mix has been undertaken by Paul Hicks, who’s been involved with recent Beatles archival projects as well as the John Lennon Gimme Some Truth box set.  It arrives the same day as the reissued “My Sweet Lord” / “Isn’t it a Pity” 7″ single, a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive that boasts rare art from the original Angolan single and a special milky color pressing.  The vinyl release is only available from your local brick-and-mortar record shop (or their online storefront) starting today!

Dhani Harrison promises there’s more All Things Must Pass news coming in 2021, including details of a 50th anniversary edition.  “We’ve been digging through mountains of tapes, and they just kept coming – boxes and boxes of them. Making this album sound clearer was always one of my dad’s greatest wishes and it was something we were working on together right up until he passed. But with the help of new technology and the work of Paul Hicks on this project, we are now able to make that happen. We can’t wait for you all to hear everything we’ve been working on and your patience will be rewarded next year.”

In the meantime, enjoy the new 2020 remix of “All Things Must Pass,” available on digital download and streaming providers everywhere.

The “de-Spectorized” tracks I’ve heard sound so much better, imho.

And a Deluxe “John Lennon-Plastic Ono Band” is also coming in 2021, with 130 remixed tracks. The people behind the recent “Gimmer Some Truth” hits collection have openly stated that the “Plastic Ono Band” box has already been mixed.

Yeah, the Plastic Ono Band is ready to go. In fact, the credits in the book that came with the Gimme Some Truth box set tease the box set with an indication that it was planned for this year. It’s now planned for 2021 with news to come in January. The official website says we can expect 159 newly mixed tracks! A good time to be a fan of George, John, and Paul!

I had heard the Plastic Ono super-deluxe box was cancelled due to low sales of the Imagine box. So it’s back on?

Will look forward to this .. but shame there isn’t any surround sound mix .. “My sweet Lord” would have sounded incredible coming from 5.1 speakers ..,

Details on the Harrison releases to come haven’t been officially confirmed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if fans get a multi-disc set with surround sound. It won’t be long before all is revealed!

ATMP would have been a great SINGLE lp..a decent double album..or a bloated TRIPLE album.

Just heard the bit from the new remix, and it sounds soooo much better! The original was a sonic mess, and the 2000 remaster improvement was marginal. Why did Harrison allow Spector to produce is beyond me. Yes, I know he did a good job with Across the Universe, which is why Lennon hired him, but in general his echo-laden productions ddidn’t fit in with the late 60 early 70s.
