Adding to its eclectic slate, Real Gone Music has announced a pair of soundtrack vinyl reissues hitting stores in December: The Matrix: Music from the Motion Picture due on December 3 and Music from Vanilla Sky, due on December 10.

To tie in with The Matrix: Resurrections, the somewhat unexpected fourth movie in the sci-fi franchise due in theaters on December 22, Real Gone is re-releasing a vinyl edition of the soundtrack to the original Matrix film on December 3.  Real Gone first brought the album to the format in 2017 (and reissued again in 2018 and 2019).  Here is how we described the title for the first 2017 release:

Despite coming in the last year of the decade, the original Matrix film by The Wachowski Brothers became a staple of the 90s and spawned a phenomenon.  Starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving, the dystopian sci-fi motion picture combined elements of cyberpunk, anime, martial arts and action movie tropes with groundbreaking visual effects to produce something which had not been quite seen before.  It clicked with something in audiences earning over $430 million at the box office and spawning a franchise (with further installments opening to mixed reactions).  The soundtrack album continued the vibe of the film containing elements of electronic, hip-hop and metal music with such artists as the Deftones, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Prodigy, Rob Zombie, Ministry and Rage Against the Machine.  (A separate album featuring Don Davis' score would also be released.)  The soundtrack came out on March 30, 1999 and climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Charts.

Real Gone's new 2-LP reissue is pressed on clear with red and blue swirl vinyl.  The gatefold package features stills from the film.  Look for it on December 3.

Earlier this year, the soundtrack to Almost Famous, written and directed by Cameron Crowe, received an expanded reissue in several formats.  On December 10, Real Gone will reissue a vinyl edition of the soundtrack to the very next film Crowe directed, Vanilla Sky, in celebration of the movie's 20th anniversary.  Real Gone first reissued the title on vinyl in 2018.  Here is how we described that release:

Vanilla Sky was Cameron Crowe's seventh film.  Based on Alejandro Amenábar's 1997 psychological thriller Abre los ojos (Open Your Eyes), it follows the reflections of a real estate magnate as he tries to piece together the details of a car accident, only to find that the lines between dream and nightmare, reality and fiction, begin to blur.  One of the highlights of the film is its soundtrack, which brings together music by Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, The Chemical Brothers, and more.

As a former music journalist with credits in Rolling Stone and Creem magazines, Cameron Crowe has always meticulously crafted the soundtracks for his films.  Vanilla Sky's is no exception.  The eclectic soundtrack was curated by Crowe, along with his then-wife Nancy Wilson of Heart, and co-producer Danny Bramson.  Like the film, Music From Vanilla Sky feels like a waking dream -- moods shift, genres collide, and the whole experience leans toward the surreal.  Critical reception of the soundtrack was glowing and its title track by Paul McCartney was nominated for an Academy Award in 2001.

Real Gone's new reissue is on white with orange swirl vinyl, limited to just 1,500 copies.  It comes packaged in a custom gatefold package.

If would like to give either of these soundtrack albums a listen, we've got the preorder links and full tracklistings below.  The Matrix album is due on December 3 while the Vanilla Sky soundtrack is due a week later on December 10.
