1995's It's a Man's World returned Cher to the Warner Music family after a string of studio albums on the Casablanca, Columbia, and Geffen labels. Though the album charted higher in the U.K. than in the U.S., it anticipated the 1998 international smash Believe and is today recognized as another classic chapter in the artist's extraordinary career. On July 14, It's a Man's World will return from Warner Records as a Deluxe Edition available on 2 CDs or 4 LPs. Both versions contain the complete 14-track U.K. album (the U.S. edition removed three songs and substantially remixed others) and a selection of bonus single remixes, eleven in total. The U.S. album remixes are not included among the bonus material.
Recorded in London with producers including Trevor Horn, Stephen Lipson, Christopher Neil, Greg Penny, and Simon Hurrell, It's A Man's World found Cher in a rootsy yet contemporary R&B vein. She reinterpreted such classic songs as Marc Cohn's "Walking in Memphis," Don Henley's "Not Enough Love in the World," Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe's Frankie Valli/Walker Brothers staple "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore," James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," and Paul Brady's "Paradise Is Here" (the latter first recorded by Tina Turner).
It's a Man's World charted around the world, reaching the top ten in the U.K. and yielding hits there with "Walking in Memphis" (No. 11), "One by One" (No. 7), "Not Enough Love in the World" (No. 31), and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" (No. 26). In the U.S., "One by One" peaked at No. 52 on the Hot 100 but reached No. 9 AC and No. 7 Dance. "Paradise Is Here" peaked just outside of the top ten on the Dance survey at No. 11.
The 4LP package will feature each record pressed on different-colored vinyl (red, blue, green, and yellow). The box also includes an exclusive, numbered lithograph of Cher. A different lithograph will be available for those ordering directly through Cher's website.
Look for the 2CD, 4LP, and digital versions of It's a Man's World on July 14. "Walking in Memphis (Shut Up and Dance Vocal Mix)" is streaming now, while "One by One (JR's Pride Mix)" will arrive on June 23.

I am not a huge Cher fan, but I LOVE One By One and her cover of Walking In" May-ump-fis"...got to love that Cher pronunciation.

this is such an outstanding album...the uk version is far superior to the american...it seemed like the american version really tried to slick all the songs up...the uk has a rougher sound, more organic...i never did like the us version of "one by one", but the uk version is much better...in some of her later albums, i would get the uk versions, more for the far superior extra songs...totally looking forward to this

At Cher's site it says this was "newly remastered from the best available sources" so I suppose that could very well mean digital sources...

Love this album...the original one released in the UK & Europe only...the US one sucked and Warner/Reprise ruined it for the US market, especially "One By One", yuck, the original one produced by Stephen Lipson was perfect & had an Annie Lennox feel to it...if they didn't touch it & released that single as-is for the US market & radio, it hypothetically would have been a much bigger US hit instead of #52 pop...this album was very similar to a same period Tina Turner record & also had "Paradise is Here", coincidence?? I saw the vinyl box online & thought Oooh, CD?? CD ordered & I think Warner is correcting their mistake for ruining the US version...question is are they doing more reissues?? Are they going to put Cher's 1975-1978 Warner albums on CD and vinyls back in print?? Maybe in a little box or via Wounded Bird?? I know when she re-signed with Warner UK after Geffen, she wanted those albums buried...maybe she had a change of heart?? Will be good to know...

Those 1975-1978 Warner Bros albums, as well as her album with Gregg Allman, are all available remastered on Chers' YouTube site. It's not CDs, but at least she's put them out there.

Well folks what a pleasant surprise, but certainly unexpected to most long time Cher fans. I put myself in that category as I am a fan for 50+ years. It has appeared that either Cher or her label (or both) have expressed NO interest in doing anything with her back catalog. We all know that as many have mentioned she still has 4 Warner Brother LP's that have yet to be officially released on CD..... What a shame..... Heck even Sonny's "Inner Views" LP was released on CD and that was not a masterpiece lol.... Singers with much less success than Cher get the deluxe treatment, bonus cuts, remixes, unreleased vault songs, and so on. So one can only hope. Maybe this release can get the ball rolling. It's a Man's World is a terrific group of songs. Well the word is Las Vegas residency, tour, and new music upcoming in some order. What's does everyone think? In the meantime, more back catalog reissues could do the trick. How about her "Cher" LP for Geffen....?

It took me a while to really like this album when it came out. It was not the same sounding Cher I was used to. The music was adult oriented, varied and more sophisticated than I was used to. But she sounded great, after having taken vocal lessons to tame her vibrato. I purchased the UK version after reading the reviews and was glad I did. I immediately gravitated to "One by One", "The Shape of Things to Come" and "Walking In Memphis". My least favorites were "Not Enough Love In The World", "What About The Moonlight" and "Angels Running". It took me some time and I guess I grew up and started to appreciate some more mature music. Guess what? Those three songs I didn't care for? I consider them classics and they are my favorites. One of her best albums ever and timeless.

Hello everyone,
This question is for those who have purchased the vinyl edition. Do you hear any warping during "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" and "Shape of Things to Come?" I've purchased two (!) copies and both are warped in the same places.
I wanted to hear from others before I return the sets.
