A decade after sister pop/rock trio HAIM became darlings of the music world with a lauded debut album, they’ll revisit the record with a newly expanded edition in the fall.

Days Are Gone – the sleek first volume from the group, will be reissued September 29 with a bonus disc of B-sides and remixes from the period curated by the sisters. The album, featuring the singles “Forever,” “Falling,” “The Wire,” “If I Could Change Your Mind” and more, will be pressed on double green vinyl, with picture disc and 2CD variants available outside North America.

Raised in the San Fernando Valley, sisters Este (bass/vocals), Danielle (guitar/vocals/drums) and Alana Haim (guitar/vocals/keyboards) were encouraged to play by their parents, who formed a covers outfit with them called Rockinhaim when they were children. After Danielle garnered notice in adulthood as a touring guitarist for Jenny Lewis and Julian Casablancas, HAIM hit the ground running, turning heads at the South by Southwest music festival for their high-energy live set and the icy earworm “Forever.” Working with up-and-coming producers like Ariel Rechtshaid and Ludwig Goransson, Days Are Gone was a surprise smash, topping the charts in England, reaching the Top 10 in the States and earning them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. (Days also ranked high on just about every year-end best-of list that year, including The A.V. Club, Stereogum, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Q and more.)

The trio has kept on going as a fun band that can fill arenas, releasing the albums Something to Tell You (2017) and Women in Music Pt. III (2020) and joining forces on the road with the likes of Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon and close friend Taylor Swift, who’s recruited the group for support when her Eras World Tour comes to the West Coast in July and August. (HAIM will also play a trio of dates at The Bellwether in Los Angeles celebrating Days Are Gone, including a just-announced full-album performance on July 19.)

Days Are Gone is reissued September 29, a decade and two days after it first came out. Full track list and pre-order links are below.

  1. This was released in 2013 as a two disc set by Polydor/Europe on CD. So now in 2023, they’ve decided to add 4 tracks to the Bonus Disc and remove four tracks from the 2013 release! Kind of maddening. Could have been a decent and fuller 12 track offering. Here’s what’s missing:

    “Forever (Dan Lissvik Remix)”
    “Falling (Live)”
    “Falling (Psychemagik Remix)”
    “The Wire (Tourist Remix)”
