Legendary metal band Motörhead have been steadily unearthing soundboard shows as part of their The Löst Tapes series since 2021. Now, those shows – previously only available on vinyl or digitally – will make their way to CD in a new eight-disc box set.

The Löst Tapes – The Collection: Volumes 1-5 collates all the audio heard on various Record Store Day colored vinyl releases from BMG Rights Management, featuring Lemmy Kilmister and his die-hard trio powering their way through some of their biggest speed metal classics (“Ace of Spades,” “Killed by Death,” “Overkill”) at various venues in Europe mostly in the ’90s and ’00s. (An exception is the fourth volume, featuring a set from Germany in 1984, featuring Motörhead as a quartet of Lemmy on vocals and bass, guitarists Michael “Würzel” Burston and Phil “Wizzö” Campbell, and drummer Pete Gill. All other sets feature the band’s final lineup of Lemmy, Wizzö and drummer Mikkey Dee.) They’re all digitized from original cassettes recorded by the group’s live engineers.

In a break with tradition, the fifth volume – a 2008 appearance at the Download Festival in Donington Park, England, during which Würzel made an appearance toward the end of the set – will be released on yellow vinyl day and date with the CD box. Both items will hit stores February 28, and pre-order links for all are below.
