Oasis, Definitely Maybe: 30th Anniversary Edition (Big Brother)
2CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
4LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
"You'll never see them on a stage any time soon, but Oasis are putting out some unheard material on a new reissue of their debut album..." We've rarely been so happy to eat our words as we are now, considering Oasis has just announced a return to the stage! In the meantime, fans can enjoy this expanded edition of the Brothers Gallagher's 1994 album Definitely Maybe. For its 30th anniversary, Definitely Maybe returns a 2CD or 4LP set that pairs the remastered album with more than a dozen unreleased tracks. These primarily include the album's scrapped 1993 sessions at Monnow Valley Studio in Wales with producer David Batchelor and subsequent work at Cornwall's Sawmills studio. Creation Records co-founder Alan McGee and journalist Hamish MacBain have provided new liner notes, and the package features redesigned cover art on a slipcase.
David Bowie, David Bowie: Deluxe Edition (Deram/Polydor) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Polydor and Deram are revisiting David Bowie's 1967 debut album featuring "Uncle Arthur," "Rubber Band," and "Silly Boy Blue" as a 2CD set. Alas, the 2010 Deluxe Edition remains the gold standard for this title, with 53 tracks on 2 CDs including the original mono and stereo albums plus 25 bonus tracks. This new reissue has the 14-song stereo mix only plus 16 bonus tracks, all but two of which are on the 2010 release. The two "new" bonus tracks are "The Laughing Gnome" (Vocal Take 1 / Mix One) and "Space Oddity" ("Love You Till Tuesday" Full-Length Mono Version). Both of these were included - and the latter premiered on - the 2023 vinyl-only box set Laughing with Liza: Vocalion and Deram Singles 1964-1967 Plus. This digipak edition also includes a 12-page booklet. Three color vinyl versions were also issued earlier this summer, each with an exclusive track listing.
Rick Astley, Free: Deluxe Edition (BMG) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Rick Astley's third studio album, 1991's Free, was his first not produced by the Stock-Atiken-Waterman team. Instead, Astley and Gary Stevenson helmed the album which earned a Gold certification in the U.K. and yielded the top ten hit "Cry for Help" on both the U.S. and U.K. charts. This 2CD reissue has a new Abbey Road remaster of the original album plus a generous 18 bonus tracks including previously unreleased tracks, single versions, B-sides, remixes, and instrumentals.
Paul Robeson, Voice of Freedom: His Complete Columbia, RCA, HMV, and Victor Recordings (Sony Classical) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
This lavish 14-CD box collects all of the late singer-activist's major label recordings, spanning 1925-1947. Voice of Freedom includes the first release of Robeson's groundbreaking Victor recordings on CD (16 recordings reissued for the first time, 5 previously unreleased); the first restoration of Robeson's acclaimed 1944 Othello stage production with Uta Hagen and José Ferrer from the original 33 master disc sides; his complete remastered Columbia albums (Songs of Free Men, Popular Favorites, Spirituals); and the first release of his historic 1958 concerts at Mother A.M.E. Zion Church, New York, and Royal Albert Hall, including a whopping 30 previously unissued recordings. Numerous recordings of his signature song, "Ol' Man River" from Show Boat, are featured. (Though the role of Joe was reportedly written for Robeson, he declined to appear in the show's Broadway premiere. He instead later played the London premiere as well as appearing in the 1932 Broadway revival and the 1936 film version.) All of these recordings have been restored from the original master discs and tapes, and 25 studio recordings--as well as his complete historic New York and London appearances from 1958--are here presented for the first time on CD. The thick 160-page book, with essays by Shana L. Redmond and Susan Robeson, pays tribute to this legendary performer and civil rights crusader.

Cleopatra's Melanie reissue series rolls on with this expanded edition of her 2010 album, now with six bonus tracks and new liner notes from her manager, Dave Thompson.
