Neil Young, Oceanside/Countryside (Reprise/NYA) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Neil Young is unveiling another once-lost album with the release of Oceanside Countryside which arrives on CD today following its vinyl release. The LP was recorded from May to December 1977; the first side comprised solo Young performances, while most of the second featured a full band. It never saw release, though. Instead, Comes a Time hit store shelves in October 1978. Both albums shared the same country-rock DNA as well as three songs ("Goin' Back," "Human Highway," and "Field of Opportunity") and some of the same musicians; Ben Keith (steel guitar), Rufus Thibodeaux (fiddle), Karl T. Himmel (drums), and Wrecking Crew veteran Joe Osborn (bass) are heard on both LPs. In addition, Tim Drummond plays bass and Levon Helm plays drums on O/C's "The Old Homestead." Oceanside Countryside includes some tracks that are on the CD of the same name in Archives Vol. III, but the versions are not always identical and the track list here reflects the originally intended running order. Available on CD and LP. Read more here.

Luciano Pavarotti, The World's Favourite Tenor Arias / Mamma (with Henry Mancini) (Decca)
The World's Favourite Tenor Arias: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
Mamma (with Henry Mancini): Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
Decca reissues two classics from the late legend Luciano Pavarotti in newly remastered editions. Pavarotti's 1975 album The World's Favourite Tenor Arias is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year; it drew on recordings made between 1969 and 1973 in London, Vienna, and Berlin with conductors Leone Magiera, Richard Bonynge, Zubin Mehta, Nicola Rescigno, and Herbert von Karajan. The 10-track sampler offers a taste of the Pavarotti artistry with classic and familiar arias from Puccini's La Boheme and Tosca; Bizet's Carmen; Verdi's Aida, Il Trovatore, and Rigoletto; Leoncavallo's Pagliacci; and more. 1984's Mamma paid tribute to the Italian popular songs of Pavarotti's youth; he had previously won a Grammy in 1980 for the collection of Neapolitan songs, O Sole Mio. Both Pavarotti and arranger-conductor Henry Mancini were in fine, playful form; the latter even brought a twist of his beloved Pink Panther theme to "In Un Palco Della Scala." Both titles are available on CD and LP.

3LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
A celebrated jazz guitarist, cornerstone of the Blue Note roster in the late '50s and early '60s and still-standing link to a thriving era in American jazz, Kenny Burrell will be celebrated this spring with a deluxe revisitation of his first live release. On View at the Five Spot Café: The Complete Masters collects the original 1960 album, recorded in New York City with a killer quintet line-up, along with nine additional tracks from the same club dates - six of which are being released for the first time. Available on two CDs or three LPs - the latter an entry in the label's ongoing Tone Poet reissue series - the expanded On View has been remastered by Kevin Gray from original analog masters recorded by Rudy Van Gelder. It's packaged in a tri-fold tip-on jacket that comes with a booklet featuring unseen photos, liner notes by Syd Schwartz, and an interview between Burrell (93 years old and counting!) and Blue Note's president, producer/musician Don Was. This title arrives today after a brief delay. Read more here!
Willie Nelson, Oh What a Beautiful World (Legacy) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Oh What a Beautiful World - by the numbers, Willie Nelson's 77th studio album (!) and 154th album overall (!!) - finds the legendary singer tackling the songbook of Rodney Crowell. The singer-songwriter's work has been a touchstone of Nelson's career since 1983, when he recorded his first Crowell composition; his most recent was cut in 2024 for The Border. Produced by Buddy Cannon, Oh What a Beautiful World offers 12 Crowell tunes spanning 50 years of songwriting - including the title track performed as a duet between the two men. Available on CD, LP, and digitally.
Smokey Robinson, What the World Needs Now (Gaither) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Smokey Robinson's newest studio album finds him singing such warm favorites as "Lean on Me," "What a Wonderful World," "Be Thankful for What You Got," and "What the World Needs Now Is Love." Available on CD, LP, and digital/streaming.
Sting, 3.0 LIVE (A&M/Interscope/Cherrytree)
CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
Sting 3.0 LIVE hits stores today after a 2LP release for Record Store Day. The RSD version featured new live recordings of favorites like "Every Breath You Take," "Message in a Bottle," "Wrapped Around Your Finger," "All This Time," "Shape of My Heart" and "Fields of Gold," along with a few tunes never released by Sting on a live set, including "Fortress Around Your Heart," "Be Still My Beating Heart," "I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)" and other songs lacking the word "heart" in the title. Unfortunately, the general retail version on CD and LP in the U.S. only features the first nine songs of the RSD collection - literally just the first LP. You'll have to import the Japanese version to get the deluxe edition on two CDs. (In an even more unusual and slightly dated strategy, digital versions will get a recording of "Fragile" that's not on any physical edition.) Get the full tracklisting(s) and more here!
