The Bad Boys from Boston return to where it all began with a deluxe edition of their 1973 debut album, which featured “Mama Kin,” “Make It” and eventual Top 10 hit “Dream On.” This reissue is coming across a variety of formats, including expanded CD and vinyl sets. They include a 2024 remaster of the original album, a 2024 remix of the same (overseen by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry with producer/engineer Zakk Cervini and producer Steve Berkowitz) and 17 unreleased tracks, including a period performance at Paul’s Mall in Boston and studio outtakes. A booklet in the vinyl versions feature liner notes by Rick Florino, featuring insight from all five band members plus Slash, Dolly Parton, Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam), Chris Robinson (The Black Crowes), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Sully Erna (Godsmack). Frank Zappa’s final album with The Mothers of Invention was also a collaboration with frenemy and fellow iconoclast Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart) – a bit of a transitional live-plus-studio album in Zappa’s always fascinating and often-unusual discography. (Other contributors include George Duke, Tom and Bruce Fowler, and Napoleon Murphy Brock plus newer recruits Terry Bozzio and Denny Walley.) The 5CD/1BD box set features the original album, bonus tracks and a new remix (from 16-track tapes) of the May 20 and 21, 1975 concerts at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, TX, from which much of the original album was sourced. (Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround, and high-resolution 192/24 and 96/24 stereo mixes of Bongo Fury plus three bonus cuts appear on the Blu-ray.) This two-for-one soundtrack CD offers the previously unreleased scores to It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown! and Charlie Brown’s All-Stars in commemoration of the Peanuts specials’ 50th and 60th anniversaries, respectively.  Arbor Day was Guaraldi’s final special; on February 6, 1976, he completed the recording sessions for the program, performed one nightclub set, and passed away in his hotel room before his second set of the night. In 2026, for every copy of this album sold, the label will contribute $1.00 to the Arbor Day Foundation, with a minimum annual donation of $12,000.00.  Available on CD, LP, and digitally.

Dan Fogelberg, Souvenirs [Hybrid SACD] (Impex) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K.)

Following its audiophile-standard presentation of Dan Fogelberg’s 1974 classic Souvenirs (featuring “Part of the Plan”) on vinyl, the label is now bringing it to hybrid stereo SACD, playable on all CD players.  Additionally, four previously unreleased bonus tracks debut here in physical format, while the booklet includes Charles L. Granata’s comprehensive essay on the album’s creation.  Limited to 2,000 units.

Todd Rundgren, The Complete Live at the Ridgefield (Cleopatra) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

In 2016, Todd Rundgren released his December 15, 2015 concert at Ridgefield, CT’s Ridgefield Playhouse as a CD/DVD set.  While the DVD contained the full performance, the CD was truncated to the running time of one disc.  Now, he’s revisiting the show as a 2CD/DVD set and reinstating the missing tracks including “Love Science,” “Soothe,” “God Said,” and the Soul Medley.  Also available digitally and on 3LP vinyl.
