Let There Be More Light: Pink Floyd Launches New Vinyl Reissue Campaign

As one of the most iconic bands in rock history, Pink Floyd has a had a long and storied career from their 1967 debut The Piper at the Gates of Dawn all the way through to 2014's The Endless River.  Along the way they've also released live albums, compilations and, of course, reissues.  The last major reissue campaign for the band came in 2011 with their Why Pink Floyd line which included three levels of releases from straight album reissues to deluxe album "Immersion" box set editions of The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall.  Then, The Division Bell was reissued in 2014 in a box set edition to celebrate its 20th anniversary.  Now, Pink Floyd Records is starting a new campaign to reissue the band's catalogue in new vinyl editions throughout the year.  The first four of these will be released on June 3, 2016 and encompass Pink Floyd's first four core studio LPs: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967), A Saucerful of Secrets (1968), the soundtrack to the film More (1969), and the 2-LP Ummagumma (1969).

These new editions promise to replicate the original packaging of the LPs and will be pressed 180 gram vinyl.  The first releases will be remastered by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman.  They will be distributed by Warner Music (owners of the Parlophone label) in the U.K. and Europe and by Sony Music/Columbia in the U.S. and the rest of the world.  It is not been revealed yet whether the campaign will continue chronologically through the band's catalogue or will skip around.  It is also not known yet if this line will include just the 15 core studio albums or will encompass live albums and compilations too.  We will of course let you know when more news becomes available.

We've got the tracklistings and pre-order links below if you'd like to experience these new Pink Floyd vinyl reissues.  The band's catalogue is already available to own on the past CD reissues and digitally.  Stay tuned for more information!

They should release the first two albums in mono and stereo. And we need a singles box set. Make it so.
