Petula Clark, Natural Love: The Scotti Brothers Recordings (Real Gone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

In the early years of the 1980s, Petula Clark was signed to the Scotti Brothers label in the U.S. and starring in a revival of The Sound of Music in the West End.  During this busy period, she released several singles for Scotti but an album never materialized...until now.Natural Love - The Scotti Brothers Recordings collects all of these tracks (plus Pet's rare Epic U.K. single with "Edelweiss" and "Darkness") in one place so this era of Clark's music may be better appreciated.  All tracks have been newly remastered by Mike Milchner at SonicVision, and my liner notes are based on a lengthy interview with the lovely Miss Clark herself!

This 2-CD, 30-track compilation from Air Supply brings together all of the Australian group's hits, including songs like "All Out of Love" and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All," which made them such a huge success in the early to mid-1980s.  I've also provided the liner notes for this new-to-CD, comprehensive collection which has been remastered by Sean Brennan at Sony's Battery Studios!

Concord Bicycle has a straight reissue of The Traveling Wilburys Collection, a multi-disc audiovisual box set that gathers expansions of both Wilburys albums, Vol. 1 (1988) and Vol. 3 (1990) with bonus video content. As with the original Rhino Records release in 2007, the box will be available as a standard 2CD/1DVD set; a deluxe, numbered edition with identical content; a vinyl box set (including three extended versions that were otherwise unavailable) and hi-res download options.  Read more here!

The Kinks, Everybody's In Show-Biz: Legacy Edition (RCA/Legacy)

Legacy expands The Kinks' 1972 classic Everybody's In Show-Biz to a 2-CD Legacy Edition.  The studio/live hybrid album gains a full disc's worth of previously unissued studio outtakes (recorded at London's Morgan Studios) and concert material (recorded March 2-3, 1972 during The Kinks' Carnegie Hall concert stand).  The Legacy Edition will also be released on vinyl with an abridged selection of bonus tracks.  Read more here, and watch for our review later today!

Pink Floyd begins a vinyl reissue campaign today with its first four core studio LPs: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967), A Saucerful of Secrets (1968), the soundtrack to the film More (1969), and the 2-LP Ummagumma (1969).  These titles are available via Sony in the U.S., and Warner in the U.K.!  Read more about these reissues here!

David Bowie, A Reality Tour (Vinyl) (Friday Music) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

David Bowie's 2010 live album capturing the 2003  Dublin performance of his Reality Tour comes to vinyl from Friday Music as a 3-LP, 33-track set pressed on 180-gram vinyl.  It features career-spanning hits and fan favorites like "Heroes", "Ziggy Stardust", "Changes", "Fame", "Ashes to Ashes," "Life on Mars?," "All the Young Dudes," and "Rebel, Rebel" as well as collaborations "Sister Midnight" and "Under Pressure."  This remastered, limited edition release will be housed in a sturdy box with two poster inserts featuring the 12″ x 12″ front cover image and a 12″ x 24″ double-sided poster featuring live performance shots from the concert tour.  Each LP will be pressed by R.T.I. on translucent blue vinyl with a custom Bowie label image.  Read more here!

The Rolling Stones are revisiting their 1995 acoustic live album Stripped in a variety of packages.  Totally Stripped presents three complete shows (The Paradiso in Amsterdam, L'Olympia in Paris and Brixton Academy in London) and an overhauled version of the Stripped documentary.  The Totally Stripped CD has been newly created from all three concerts and has only one performance in common with the original Stripped album.  Available in various versions for different territories: DVD or Standard Definition Blu-ray documentary-only editions, as well as LP, DVD/CD, BD/CD and DVD/LP iterations and Deluxe Editions with 4 DVDs or BDs and one CD.  Whew!

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Got a Mind to Give Up Living: Live 1966 (Real Gone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Real Gone Music releases, for the first time in legitimate fashion, a legendary bootleg that captures The Paul Butterfield Blues Band live at Boston's Unicorn Coffee House 50 years ago in May 1966, two months before the release of the group's landmark East-West.  Chris Morris' new liner notes feature fresh quotes from Elvin Bishop and Mark Naftalin, rare pictures and memorabilia, and editorial input from Mike Bloomfield aficionado and co-producer Toby Byron.  Mike Milchner has remastered the sound!

Edgar Winter, The Definitive Collection (Real Gone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

The Definitive Collection rounds up the choice highlights of Winter's 11 album Epic and Blue Sky label tenure in the 1970s.  The 2-CD chronological collection includes some of Winter's biggest hits which highlight his singular fusion of musical styles.  Darren Salmieri at Battery Studios has remastered, and Bill Kopp's provided the new liner notes!

Fairport Convention, Live in Finland 1971 (Real Gone)  (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

1971 saw Fairport Convention in a time of transition.  Despite rising in popularity, departures began to pile up for the group including founding members Richard Thompson and Ashley Hutchings and vocalists such as Sandy Denny.  Simon Nicol was the only original member left and fiddler David Swarbrick took over leadership of the band.  Live in Finland 1971 was recorded in August of that year, a couple of months after the release of the new quartet version of the band's album Angel Delight - the first Fairport Convention album to hit the charts in America.  This incredible set features songs from that album.

Loudon Wainwright III, Loudon Wainwright III/Album II - The Atlantic Recordings (Real Gone)  (Amazon U.S. /Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III's tenure at Atlantic Records was brief.  The droll tunesmith only released two albums there, in 1970 and 1971, before moving on to labels including Columbia and Arista.  Rhino Handmade put his two Atlantic albums on CD together with an unreleased bonus track back in 1999.  Real Gone is now putting this compilation back into print as Loudon Wainwright III/Album II.  So, if you missed this the first time around, now is your chance to hear the beginning of Wainwright's career.

The D.O.C., No One Can Do It Better: Expanded Edition (Real Gone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

We then get to Real Gone's first foray into the hip-hop genre with the release of an expanded edition of No One Can Do It Better by The D.O.C.  Tracy Lynn Curry, aka The D.O.C. was a major behind the scenes player on the biggest releases in West Coast rap.  He got huge success himself when this 1989 Dr. Dre-produced debut album went platinum and featured a couple of #1 rap singles.  The new edition by Real Gone features fresh remastering and seven 12″ single mixes.

10,000 Maniacs, Playing Favorites (Omnivore) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

10,000 Maniacs lives up to the title of this new release: Playing Favorites.  This hometown show from Jamestown, New York features 14 tracks, including hits and fan favorites from throughout the group's career. Current band members Jerome Augustyniak, Dennis Drew, Jeff Erickson, Steven Gustafson, John Lombardo and Mary Ramsey are joined by strings, horns, and backing vocalists on such songs as "More Than This," "Because the Night," "What's the Matter Here?" and "These Are Days."  Available on CD and DD.

Gary Burton, Something's Coming/The Groovy Sound of Music/The Time Machine (BGO) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

BGO brings together (on two CDs) three albums from vibes master Gary Burton originally released between 1964 and 1966.  Something's Coming features original material as well as a cover of the Bernstein/Sondheim West Side Story tune; The Groovy Sound of Music lives up to its title as a reinterpretation of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Sound of Music score; and The Time Machine has both Burton originals plus covers of The Beatles and Rodgers and Hart.

Paul Simon, Stranger to Stranger (Concord)

Paul Simon returns with his 13th solo studio album and first since 2011's So Beautiful or So What. Stranger has been co-produced by his longtime collaborator Roy Halee and features the first single "Wristband."  Simon says "sound is the theme of this album," and sessions featured dance and flamenco artists as well as inspiration from 20th century composer/theorist Harry Partch (maker of custom instruments in microtonal tunings).  Stranger to Stranger is available in standard 11-track and deluxe 16-track editions on CD; vinyl and DD versions will also be available.
