Mike Duquette

Mike Duquette (Founder) was fascinated with catalog music ever since he was a teenager. A 2009 graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.A. in journalism, Mike paired his profession with his passion through The Second Disc, one of the first sites to focus on all reissue labels great and small. His passion for reissues turned into a career, holding positions at Legacy Recordings and Rhino Records and contributing to Allmusic, Discogs, City Pages, Ultimate Classic Rock and Mondo Records, for whom he penned liner notes for his favorite piece of music: John Williams' Oscar-winning score to 'E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.' Born and raised in New Jersey, Mike lives in Astoria, Queens with his wife, a cat named Ravioli, twin daughters and a large yet tasteful collection of music.

Apparently, the Apollo Vol I-IV box was released on iTunes last week. Problem is, no one can access it. https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/live-at-the-apollo-vol.-i-iv/id899837131?ign-mpt=uo%3D4

So, word of warning on the Hard Road Deep Purple MKI box. There's been reports that the last 30 seconds on Hey Joe (stereo version) is missing. It's the segment after the song ends with the footsteps and the door slamming. The mono Hey Joe definitely has the last 30 seconds present.

This is definitely an error, by the way. I have a needledrop of the original stereo UK vinyl and the last 30-sec. segment with the footsteps and door slamming is definitely there at the end. Considering this is likely the last time the MKI era will get any sort of attention, I suggest people complain HARD about this.

Whoops, that last sentence sounded too much like fearmongering. 😳 Sorry!

(Be assured that it's definitely an error, though; that last segment is present on the original CD and the 2003 remaster.)
