Hot on the heels of his new studio album Tracks of My Years - a deluxe edition of which, with additional material, is due on October 27, Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is revisiting his past in another way. Tracks of My Years features Adams' recordings of classic songs from which he found inspiration as a songwriter; on November 24, he will release an expanded 2-CD/1-DVD/1-BD edition of his 1984 breakthrough album Reckless.
Produced by Adams and Bob Clearmountain and originally released on the A&M label on the artist's 25th birthday, Reckless spawned five Top 15 singles in the U.S. - a feat previously only accomplished by Michael Jackson's 1982 Thriller and Bruce Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A., also from 1984. Bolstered by the success of those five tracks - "Run to You", "Somebody", "Heaven", "Summer of '69", "One Night Love Affair", and "It's Only Love" - Reckless peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart and became the first Canadian-recorded album to sell more than one million units in Canada.
The new box set features a remastered version of the original 10-track album, seven previously unissued bonus tracks, a 1985 BBC concert performance, director Steve Barron's Reckless: The Movie and a Blu-ray audio disc with high-resolution stereo and 5.1 surround mixes, all housed in a DVD case-sized hardback book. Typical of a package such as this, the 30th anniversary Reckless will also be available in other formats including a 2-CD Deluxe Edition, a remastered single disc version of just the original 10-song album, a 2-LP vinyl edition with the original album and selected bonus tracks, and as a stand-alone Blu-Ray Pure Audio release. The box set-exclusive book features never-before-seen photos, insights into the working relationship between Adams and co-writer Jim Vallance, an interview with engineer Bob Ludwig, and lyrics, notes and reproductions of other assorted memorabilia.

All that and they skip over the live at the Hollywood Palladium version of "Heaven," which was the B-side of the "Heaven" 45 and has never appeared on CD. What idiots compile these things? The major labels should just give up on reissues and let these UK labels like Funkytown Grooves and the Cherry Red-owned labels handle them. Then they'll be done right.
I second the post above. It's too bad (but understandable" that "Diana" will be left off, but as this is likely the final tatement on the Reckless lp (until maybe the 35th or 40th anniversary edition) I want everything associated with the album (non-lp b-sides) included.

Early pressings of "Introducing the Beatles" on Vee-Jay included five U.S. top 15 hits, not including "Please Please Me" which appeared only on subsequent editions.
True, but not all of them were Vee-Jay single releases off "Introducing the Beatles"; "I Saw Her Standing There" was a Capitol single...not to take anything away from the Fabs! Thanks for reading! 🙂
I confess, I figured there would be a rebuttal, but I assumed it would be that "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" were both on the same single, and therefore didn't count as two "singles."

None of the non-album tracks are here. Diana was left off at Bryan's request. A shame, but there you go. The Christmas Time single is missing, as is (thankfully) The Bryan Adamix. And the live b-sides are absent too, though we get alternative live takes of each. None of the missing tracks bother me. Instead of those we get seven, count 'em, bona fide unreleased songs. Now that is something to get excited about. Whether they are full album outtakes or just demos doesn't matter. I'll be buying the 2CD edition for these babies. The live album is a welcome bonus.
Agreed. Those 7 unreleased are the reason I'm getting this. Can't wait to hear the title track Reckless, too, since it was given to Loverboy as "Dangerous". Will be cool to hear the original way it was meant to be.
In the future, I REALLY hope Bryan releases the "lost" album by Adams/Vallance that went unfinished before Bryan wrote NEIGHBOURS with Mutt Lange.
Tried to look at his reviews and discography on allmusic and lo and behold, nothing there. Seems like he is one of the only artists to request to not have his information displayed. Anyone have any insight to why?
That's been going on since mid last year. No official explanation was ever given. Maybe they gave his latter albums low scores and he's pissed??
He seems a bit insecure if that's the case. Kind of a weak move. Some of his critics have been brutal to him for sure. Looking at the bonus tracks we get 3 horrible cliches in a row. "Draw The Line", "Play To Win", "Too Hot to Handle". I do like "Heaven" and "Run To You" but he's a minor artist overall.
There were so many classic albums in the 80's but for some reason, this one slipped under the radar, just received my copy, an all time classic, will never ever forget when i saw or heard "Run To You", there are an extra 7 studio tracks, although they may not be quite as good as the original album they're definitely worth checking out, and the live cd too is pretty cool, you also get the B.A. movie which are film clips attached to the singles and bluray too in 5.1, great package can't get any better than this, "heaven" for sure
Anyone ever hear the "Run To You" remix that was released back in the day? I'm unfamiliar with it and wonder if it's worth tracking down.
The single was supposedly remixed, but sounded just the same as the album version. BA didn't really go in for remixing, Heat of the Night excepted.
