  1. I’m the only music enthusiast in our family. I get 2 or 3 new cds for my wife every year and maybe one new cd for my daughter. She’s not into collecting music. She’s content listening to Prime. Her big complaint being there is usually one good song on an album. I tried getting her to play records. Bought an all in one turntable and gave her a collection of 45s I know she likes. Nothing. Afraid to put the tonearm on the record. As for me, I’m in the doghouse year round for what I spend on music. I will take a look at your holiday guide.

  2. No love for the Dead’s Cornell ‘77 and the Get Shown the Light box set?

For a more casual GD fan, or just someone who’s curious about the Dead and wants to know what the hype’s about, there’s no better place to start than the Cornell show. Great Show, or Greatest Show? You decide!

If you want to dive a little deeper, and hear one of the best weeks of music the band ever played, then Get Shown the Light and get the box set! The deluxe set with the books, etc., is sold out, but the “music only” edition (Which is the most important part) is still available at dead.net!

    1. Oh… And although it’s certainly not my favorite album by the group, how about the More of the Monkees deluxe box from Rhino?

I’ve thought about adding it to my holiday list, just because it’s so packed with interesting outtakes/sessions and even a live disc from the famous Phoenix concert (In stereo for the first time!) featured in an epsiode of the TV show.

*No, I swear I’m not a Rhino employee!

  3. Any insider information regarding what is going to get nominated for best historical package for next year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. I would imagine the Beatles “Sgt. Pepper” deluxe set will be one of the nominees and possibly the winner. But beyond that…
