RCA and Legacy have the soundtrack to director Thom Zimny's upcoming documentary on Elvis Presley coming in a variety of formats: an 18-track soundtrack CD, a 2-LP gatefold 12-inch vinyl edition, and a 3-CD collectible deluxe box set with additional music from Presley and those who inspired him. The film traces the artistic evolution of the artist from his R&B and country beginnings through his final Jungle Room recording sessions at Graceland, and premieres on HBO on April 14. Love's 1967 psych-rock classic Forever Changes goes super deluxe in a 12 x 12 hardbound book-style format, containing 4 CDs, 1 DVD, and 1 LP. The original stereo album will be featured on Disc One in a new remaster by original engineer Bruce Botnick, while the original mono mix makes its official CD premiere on Disc Two. The third disc has the alternate mix of the entire album that premiered on the 40th anniversary reissue in 2008 plus outtake "Wonder People (I Do Wonder)" in the mix first issued in 2001. The fourth CD, Singles and Outtakes, has the unique 45 RPM versions as well as the original mix of "Wonder People (I Do Wonder)," demos, backing tracks, and more. The DVD has Botnick's stereo remaster in 96/24 high resolution, plus the rare 1968 promotional film Your Mind and We Belong Together. Produced by Brooks Arthur, this two-fer features Boone's silky treatments of songs by the pop cream of the crop including Peter Allen and Carole Bayer Sager, Bruce Roberts, Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield, Jimmy Webb, Carole King and Gerry Goffin, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. The remarkable 2-CD archival collection from the longtime Supremes dream team of Andy Skurow, George Solomon, and Kevin Reeves was originally issued on Hip-o Select in 2008 and now fetches high prices secondhand. It's returning to print on vinyl only as a 4-LP set pressed in Detroit by Third Man Records. (This set marks the first time a Motown record has actually been pressed in Detroit.) The four 180-gram vinyl LPs are housed in Stoughton tip-on jackets.

Jack Kerouac's sophomore LP teamed the famed beat poet with jazz saxophonists Zoot Sims and Al Cohn, both veterans of Woody Herman's band. Kerouac's poetry focused on his interest in eastern religion and philosophy as expressed in his novel The Dharma Bums from 1958. Real Gone's new vinyl edition comes in blue and yellow "Starburst" vinyl and is limited to 1,000 copies.

Harbinger has dug deep into the archives of the late jazz pianist/Broadway composer extraordinaire Cy Coleman for the new release entitled A Jazzman's Broadway. This collection brings together Coleman's Jubilee LP of songs from Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg's Jamaica and his Westminster album of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Flower Drum Song tunes, plus rare transcription discs of him playing another R&H classic, South Pacific. Coleman leads his trio also including bassist Aaron Bell and drummer Ray Mosca, as well as a vocal group, and drummer Ossie Johnson, flautist Romeo Pinque, and guitarist Skeeter Best. Craft Recordings has two vinyl reissues from Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness, incorporating the sounds of not just punk, but rockabilly, country, blues, and early rock-and-roll. Cheating at Solitaire has guest appearances from Bruce Springsteen and Brian Setzer, as well as covers of Bob Dylan and Hank Williams classics. Under the Influences goes even further into the realm of roots music, with a honky-tonk reinvention of Social Distortion's "Ball and Chain," and covers of The Carter Family and Sonny Curtis (The Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law"). Howard Shore's Academy Award-winning 2005 soundtrack to The Lord of The Rings - The Fellowship of The Ring is returning to print in two deluxe editions from Rhino. The four-disc The Fellowship of The Ring box set released in 2005 featured a greatly expanded, composer-supervised (not technically complete but certainly definitive) presentation to match the extended edition of the film, with three CDs of music also available in high-resolution stereo and surround sound on one DVD. Now, that box is coming back to print in two new packages: a repress of the original set, with a Blu-ray Disc replacing the DVD, and - for the first time ever, a 5LP box set, pressed on red vinyl and limited to 5,000 copies. Packaging sticks close to the original release, featuring deluxe packaging (including a "leather-style" book-like spine) as well as liner notes by LoTR music authority Doug Adams.
