This new release from Liberation Hall and 415 Records has the best of Jonathan Postal’s influential West Coast new wave/punk group The Readymades. It expands on the 2009 vinyl issue with three additional tracks for a total of 17 songs. Available on CD and digital platforms.
Liberation Hall and 415 Records have an expanded edition of San Francisco band Pop-o-Pies’ 1981 release The White EP, adding seven tracks to the original six. This release from the band featuring Joe Callahan and a rotating cast of musicians makes its debut on CD. Also available digitally.
Matthew Sweet returns with his latest studio album, and the power-pop hero is in full one-man-band mode. For this self-produced and self-engineered LP recorded in his home studio pre-COVID, Sweet sang all of the vocals and played guitar, bass and piano; he’s joined only by longtime collaborator Ric Menck on drums for this guitar-heavy set emphasizing both tasty songwriting and ear-opening solos. It’s a harder-rocking and somewhat darker set than some fans might be expecting, but still characterized by Sweet’s bold melodies, sharp playing, and pop songcraft. Available on black vinyl, limited blue vinyl, and digital download directly via Omnivore’s webstore.
Sunset Blvd. has a 3-CD, 70-track anthology of the “Kansas City” soul man including 30 previously unavailable songs and collaborations with Allen Toussaint.

The 3-CD version offers the original album, bonus live and acoustic cuts, and the remixes, plus a disc of instrumentals.

After a CD release last year, the vinyl version of Fogerty’s Factory is out today. John Fogerty and his kids have been keeping busy in quarantine, recording their versions of Dad’s classic songs. John, sons Shane and Tyler, and daughter Kelsy are featured on such Fogerty staples as “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Centerfield.” Available on CD, LP, and digital platforms.
