Keith Jarrett, Sun Bear Concerts: Piano Solo - Recorded in Japan (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Originally released in 1978, this staggering 10-LP box set from Keith Jarrett (totaling over six hours of improvised music) documents eight performances in Japan undertaken by the piano virtuoso in November 1976.  These performances were recorded by engineer Okihiro Sugano and producer Manfred Eicher, head of ECM Records and presented in gorgeous fashion which is replicated here for this vinyl reissue.  That means you get ten discs housed in a folio (slipcase not included, as was the case with original Japanese pressings), plus a 16-page booklet of photographs and notes, as well as records with the iconic green and silver ECM labels.  All the music has been newly remastered in an all-analog chain from the original master tapes.  Each set in this limited edition of 2,000 copies comes individually numbered.

Harpers Bizarre Complete Warner Bros Recordings

BUY NOW FROM AMAZON.COM

Harpers Bizarre, Come to the Sunshine: The Complete Warner Bros. Recordings (Cherry Red/El) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Cherry Red's El imprint has revisited the four 1967-1969 Warner Bros. albums of Harpers Bizarre in a new slipcased set.  Sunshine and harmony pop rarely sounded sweeter - no surprise, considering the involvement of such boldface names as Leon Russell, Van Dyke Parks, Randy Newman, Ry Cooder, Lenny Waronker, Nick DeCaro, Perry Botkin Jr., Jack Nitzsche, and The Beau Brummels' Ron Elliott.  The group - by their final Warner LP a foursome consisting of future uber-producer Ted Templeman, Dick Scoppettone, John Petersen, and Dick Yount - tackled songs by everybody from Cole Porter and George Gershwin to Burt Bacharach and Paul Williams.  The stereo album presentations in Come to the Sunshine mirror the 2001 Sundazed reissues, for a total of eight bonus singles spread across the four discs.  Watch this space for a more detailed look at the Hello and Harpers Bizarre releases!
