Last fall, Eagles embarked on their Long Goodbye tour. While dates are currently expected to stretch into 2025 - hence the "long" part of the title - the band stated that "everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle." The tour currently has gigs lined up through June in North America and Europe, including stops in Chicago, Toronto, and Manchester. Each show has amounted to a greatest-hits retrospective, and so it's no surprise that a companion audio release will be arriving from Rhino. On April 12, the label will release To the Limit: The Essential Collection as a 3CD set, a 6LP set on 180-gram vinyl, and digitally. A limited edition, embossed lithograph will be available to those who pre-order directly from Rhino.com. A 2LP "highlights" edition will be available exclusively at Target stores and through Target.com.
The first major compilation for the band since 2003's 2-CD The Very Best of Eagles (released in some territories as The Complete Greatest Hits), To the Limit presents 51 songs on 3 CDs vs. that earlier release's 33. The first two discs feature studio recordings while the third offers a selection of previously released live performances from over the years.
All seven of Eagles' original studio albums, from 1972's Eagles to 2007's Long Road Out of Eden, are represented, with band members Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon, Don Felder, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh. The group's five No. 1 hits are here ("New Kid In Town," "One Of These Nights," "Best Of My Love," "Hotel California," and "Heartache Tonight") as well as enduring classics including "Take It Easy," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Witchy Woman," "Tequila Sunrise," "Desperado," "Lyin' Eyes," "Life in the Fast Lane," "Take It to the Limit," and many more.
The sixteen live tracks span 1976-2018 as originally released on Eagles Live (1980), - including the Top 40 hit "Seven Bridges Road" - Hell Freezes Over (1994), The Millennium Concert (2000), Live at The Forum '76 (2017), and Live from The Forum MMXVIII (2020). The final tracks from MMXVIII ("One of These Nights," "The Long Run") feature the current line-up of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, country superstar Vince Gill, and the late Glenn Frey's son Deacon Frey. Gill and the younger Frey stepped into the group following Glenn's death in 2016 at the age of 67.
Eagles' live performance of "Take It to the Limit" from their March 21, 1977 concert at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD, is now available to view on the Eagles' official YouTube channel today. To the Limit: The Essential Collection arrives on April 12 from Rhino. You'll find pre-order links and the track listing below!

John Foster says
I have the 2003, 2-CD The Very Best of Eagles set, plus the DVD of "Farewell 1 Tour - Live from Melbourne", so I think I am covered, thank you very much.
Dudley Morris says
Agreed. Very Bedt has Wasted Time and Those Shoes.
Rob says
I'd much rather they reissue the quadraphonic mixes of "One Of These Nights" and "On the Border" through Rhino's wonderful new Quadio series.
Bill says
Was any work done sonically for this reissue?
Mark H. says
From the Amazon US track listing, it looks like the Asylum tracks come from the 2013 remasters. I encourage you to check there for more information.
Mike Pasqua says
Talk about beating a dead horse.....why not include something that hasn't already been released multiple times?
Mikey Pitt says
I'd rather a full live concert release of The Long Goodbye Tour,Why not??!!
Benjamin D Adler says
I hate the Fuckin’ Eagles man!
Joe Walsh says
Is Barry Manilow more your style? LOL
Kenny says
Is Ringo Starr more yours?
Zubb says
I am not really into live stuff so there is nothing in this package for me. I am sure it will sell well though.
JIM WALTON says
Yet another missed opportunity to release their only non-LP b-side "Get You in the Mood".
Nick Clarkson says
Get You in the Mood was on the Legacy set.
Cybil Durango says
And what about “My Man”? For sure one of the best Eagles songs EVER. Never ever in any compilation. Is it because is a Bernie Leadon’s song? I miss “Pretty Maids All In A Row” too, and “Try And Love Again”, two heights of Hotel California.
Jon says
This feels like the most monumental "cash grab" ever. If you have "Very Best of...", "Eagles Live" and "Long Road Out of Eden", you've already done your part. To pay for what amounts to two or three studio cuts and six live ones seems like SUCH a waste of hard-earned money. Besides, if I never hear "Hotel California" again, I could die a happy man.
