Many States of Independence: Demon Unveils RSD List with Donna Summer, Yardbirds, Lulu, Average White Band, More

Doctor Who: The Edge of Destruction (Zoetrope Picture Disc)

This brand-new audio presentation, making its debut in any format with this vinyl release, features unique linking narration by Carole Ann Ford. There’s also a bonus interview with Carole herself, in which she recalls playing Susan, the Doctor’s granddaughter, in the original TV episodes.  The vinyl boasts a picture disc Side A, showing the Ship’s melting ormolu clock from a pivotal scene in the story, and an exclusive Zoetrope Side B, depicting the TARDIS swirling across space and time (best experienced using a smartphone running a third-party stroboscope app). The 12″ disc is presented in a stunning die-cut artwork outer sleeve.  Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

Average White Band Live at the RainbowAverage White Band, Live at the Rainbow Theatre 1974 (1LP)

Recently discovered tapes that went missing from the mastering studio in 1974, contain the long-lost concert at London’s Rainbow Theatre, when the Band supported jazz legend Billy Cobham. As there aren’t any multi-tracks, nothing has been altered from the live performances.  Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

Dead Or Alive, The Pete Hammond Hi-NRG Remixes (2LP)

Working with the band’s later recordings, legendary producer, Pete ‘Mixmaster’ Hammond, has undertaken a throwback hi-NRG remix project, completely re-playing and reworking 11 of the band’s recordings, in the classic ’80s sound.  The album includes remixes of versions of four of their biggest hits, the Japanese #2 hit ‘Hit And Run Lover’, through to their most recent album, Fan the Flame (Part 2). Newly compiled for the first time on Vinyl for RSD 2024, “Many States of Independence” showcases eight of this monumental track’s most popular remixes from 1982, 1990. and 1996 on this special RSD release. Pressed on translucent blue vinyl. Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

Lamont Dozier, Love & Beauty (2LP)

Demon Records are proud to reissue this classic on blue marble vinyl for Record Store Day 2024. The package is complete with original artwork and printed inner sleeve which includes an extensive liner note by Tony Rounce. Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

Lulu Man with the Golden GunLulu, The Man with the Golden Gun (Picture Disc)

The exclusive RSD 12″ picture disc features the poster artwork from the film, designed and illustrated by Robert McGinnis. The design features a collage of illustrated images of key characters, scenes and locations, including Roger Moore’s James Bond, Scaramanga, Nick Nack, Mary Goodnight, and Andrea Anders.

Parliament, Osmium Deluxe (2LP)

This version compiles together everything from that period onto a double green vinyl edition; the full Osmium album, the single sides that never made the album, unreleased tracks, demos and jams – which all making their debut vinyl appearance housed in one united package. Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

Pixies, Live From Red Rocks 2005 (2LP)

This recording features the Pixies in their fullest form with the original line-up present and correct (David Lovering on drums, Joey Santiago on guitar, bassist Kim Deal, and Charles Michael Kittridge, Frank “Black Francis” Thompson IV).  This has never previously been available on vinyl and it’s now pressed on orange/red splatter 140g vinyl. Steps, Deeper Shade of Blue: The Remixes (Zoetrope Picture Disc)

Originally a top 5 hit in hit April 2000, this 6-track Picture Disc features 6 mixes of the classic single, including a brand new ‘STEPS 25 REVISITED MIX’ that has been previously unavailable on any format.  The reverse of the picture disc features of Zoetrope of the original and iconic ‘Deeper Shade of Blue’ music video.

Travis Biggs, Solar Funk (LP)

This, the first ever full reissue of Solar Funk, packages the ’79 release in its full glory for the modern crate digger as a limited RSD ’24 run on translucent solar speckle vinyl. The original has climbed up in price on Discogs in recent years, averaging at 60 dollars per copy. So grab this reissue on RSD, with newly mastered audio from Phil Kinrade at AIR Studios, and an exclusive liner essay with fresh insights from Will Fox. Solar Funk: Reissued with SOUL! Yardbirds Psycho DaisiesT.Rex, Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow (Zoetrope Picture Disc)

This 50th Anniversary Edition is presented as a zoetrope picture disc, based on the original limited edition multi-layered “lattice” sleeve. Viewed with a smartphone running a third party stroboscope app, the images appear animated. Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

The Yardbirds, Psycho Daisies (LP)

This limited-edition Record Store Day 2024 release compiles Rare B-sides, rarities, and oddities that have never before featured on one comprehensive format. Demon Music Group are proud to present the first unison collection of U.S. and U.K. Yardbirds B-sides. Also available in the U.S. and Canada.

JOE MARCHESE (Editor) joined The Second Disc shortly after its launch in early 2010, and has since penned daily news and reviews about classic music of all genres. In 2015, Joe formed the Second Disc Records label. Celebrating the great songwriters, producers and artists who created the sound of American popular song and beyond, Second Disc Records, in conjunction with labels including Real Gone Music and Cherry Red Records, has released newly-curated collections produced and annotated by Joe from iconic artists such as Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Spinners, Johnny Mathis, Bobby Darin, Meat Loaf, Laura Nyro, Melissa Manchester, Liza Minnelli, Darlene Love, Al Stewart, Michael Nesmith, and many others.

Joe has written liner notes, produced, or contributed to over 200 reissues from a diverse array of artists, among them America, JD Souther, Nat "King" Cole, Paul Williams, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield, BJ Thomas, The 5th Dimension, Burt Bacharach, The Mamas and the Papas, Carpenters, Perry Como, Rod McKuen, Doris Day, Jackie DeShannon, Petula Clark, Robert Goulet, and Andy Williams.

He has felt privileged to work on productions alongside artists such as the late Jack Klugman, Eli Wallach, Arthur Laurents, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. In 2009, Joe began contributing theatre and music reviews to the print publication The Sondheim Review, and in 2012, he joined the staff of The Digital Bits as a regular contributor writing about film and television on DVD and Blu-ray.

Joe currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.
