Just months after the career-spanning compilation The Queen of Rock and Roll, Parlophone and Rhino will reissue another one of the late Queen's classic albums in several deluxe formats: 1993's What's Love Got to Do with It.  The companion album to the biopic of the same name, the 4CD/1DVD set will include the remastered original album - including two tracks left off U.S. pressings - along with a bonus disc of remixes and rarities, including an unreleased single edit of Tina's cover of The Trammps' "Disco Inferno" and an unheard a capella vocal of her re-recording of "Proud Mary." The last two CDs and DVD include What's Love Live, a concert film recorded at San Bernardino, CA's Blockbuster Pavilion in 1993 but only released on VHS and laserdisc in Europe. (Three promo videos will round out the DVD content.) The box also features a 24-page booklet and poster. A cutdown 2CD edition will be available, featuring the first two CDs of album and remix material; a new vinyl pressing will be issued, as well.  Read more here.

The new, deluxe expansion of Billy Idol's 1983 LP Rebel Yell will pair the original U.S. Top 10 album - which spawned the hit "Eyes Without a Face" and beloved singles "Rebel Yell," "Flesh for Fantasy" and "Catch My Fall" - with a bonus disc featuring seven unreleased demos and outtakes, a modern remix of one track, and on the CD, an assortment of additional rarities from a 1999 remaster of the album.  Read more here.

The Blue Note Tone Poet series expands Sonny Rollins' classic live trio album recorded in New York City on November 3, 1957 with two different rhythm sections: Donald Bailey and Pete LaRoca (afternoon set), and Wilbur Ware and Elvin Jones (evening sets).  Produced by Rudy Van Gelder, Rollins' sets formed the first live album recorded at the Village Vanguard.  The concerts were issued over two volumes in 1987; this is the first time all of the material has been brought together on one collection as newly remastered from the original tapes by Kevin Gray.  The booklet features rare photos by Francis Wolff and a new interview with Rollins conducted by Don Was.  Available on 2 CDs or 3 LPs.

Omnivore brings two of its Record Store Day titles to CD today, beginning with this 1973 Little Richard album recorded in Muscle Shoals.  Right Now! features such songs as "(Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay" and "Chain of Fools."  It's been remastered by Michael Graves and includes new liner notes by Bill Dahl.

Here at TSD HQ, we can't get enough of Dr. John, and this new CD collection is just big enough to fit his most memorable singles as originally released between 1968-1974!  That's right - every one of the good Doctor's U.S. and U.K. A- and B-sides from that period is here, including "I Walk on Gilded Splinters," "Wash, Mama, Wash," "Such a Night," and "Right Place Wrong Time."  This set of New Orleans soul, funk, and R&B from Mac Rebennack and his many friends has been reconfigured and expanded from Omnivore's 2015 CD release and looks to be every bit as enjoyable.

Here's a lost studio album from West Coast trumpet heroes Chet Baker and Jack Sheldon. Recorded in Tustin, California, in 1972 with pianist Dave Frishberg, bassist Joe Mondragon, drummer Nick Ceroli, and guitarist Jack Marshall, this set originally produced by Marshall and Hank Quinn comes from the archives of Jack's son, film producer and director Frank Marshall.  Frank has co-produced this reissue with Zev Feldman, while Matthew Lutthans has mastered from the original tapes.  It's all topped off with new liner notes, rare photos, and more.

This 3CD set collects recordings from pianist Art Tatum captured live at the Blue Note jazz club in Chicago in March 1953 with guitarist Everett Barksdale and bassist Slam Stewart. These recordings were transferred from the original tape reels and mastered forCD by engineer Matthew Lutthans.  These Jewels encompass almost three hours of previously unreleased Tatum with his trio, and everything has been lavishly chronicled in the booklet which contains rare photos and memorabilia from Herman Leonard, Bob Parent, and the Holzfeind family archives (owners of the Blue Note jazz club in Chicago); plus liner notes from Columbia University professor and author, Brent Hayes Edwards; as well as statements from Ahmad Jamal, Sonny Rollins, Monty Alexander, ELEW, Spike Wilner, Johnny O'Neal, Michael Weiss, and Terry Gibbs.
