Following batches of Japanese pressings of albums by Paul McCartney, Quincy Jones and Sting, two more classic catalogues from Universal Music Group are getting reissued on the format this summer: the first decade-plus of album by Eric Clapton - available this Friday, July 4 - and five titles from Roxy Music, available later in the month on July 25.

Clapton's discs - 1970's Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs (recorded as part of Derek & The Dominos), his 1970 self-titled album, 1974's 461 Ocean Boulevard, 1975's There's One in Every Crowd, 1976's No Reason to Cry, 1977's Slowhand, 1978's Backless, the double-disc live set Just One Night (1980) and 1981's Another Ticket - represent the (for lack of a better term) cream of his discography, offering classics like "Layla," "Let It Rain," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Cocaine," "Wonderful Tonight," "Lay Down Sally" and "I Can't Stand It." Several of the titles (Layla, 461 Ocean Boulevard, There's One in Every Crowd, No Reason to Cry and Slowhand) offer bonus tracks available on previous reissues of the albums; Layla's bonus material warrants a second disc, in fact.

Meanwhile, Roxy's Music's first five studio albums - Roxy Music (1972), For Your Pleasure (1973), Stranded (1973), Country Life (1974) and Siren (1975) - will get the classic SHM-CD treatment (high-quality pressings and packaging, including bilingual liner note inserts, CD-sized LP packaging and obi wraparounds). These discs have no bonus tracks, outside of the self-titled debut, which follows the now-standard track list slotting the classic single "Virginia Plain" into the first side's order.
