I may be in the minority of those who read The Second Disc, but I'm getting concerned at the number of releases - particularly for something like Record Store Day - which are on vinyl only and have no current (or ever) availability on CD. Given the increase of vinyl, and the scarcity of retail stores that sell CDs - especially any outside the top 10 or 20 in Rock, Pop, R&B, and Country - I wonder how long it will be before Record Store Day starts to celebrate the CD!

You are not alone in that sentiment.

        Here here!

I am not, and will never be again, a vinyl collector. It's unfair to neglect CDs on Record Store Day. For instance: that "Bee Gees Extended" looks to be a re-print of the rare RSO disco promo that came out for DJ's in 1978 with extended versions of all the "Saturday Night Fever" tracks. EVERY ONE OF THOSE should've been included on the forthcoming "Bee Gees: 1974-1979" CD box's bonus disc. But they weren't.

    Three releases that interest me:

    - The Doors – Strange Days (180-gram mono LP. Individually numbered limited edition of 12,500 copies, $24.98)
    - Rainbow Ffolly – Sallies Fforth (140-gram mono splattered vinyl. Limited edition of 5,000 copies, $19.98)
    - Tomorrow – Tomorrow (140-gram mono splattered vinyl. Limited edition of 5,300 copies, $19.98)

Really did not know about Sallies Fforth having a mono mix before (PMC 7050, apparently). And that is a very rare album to find, so this must be even rarer! Nice of them to release the very-rare but superior mono mix of Tomorrow's album, though! And it's great to see the Doors' Strange Days get a rerelease in mono, too.

...The one thing I can hope for, though, not being a vinyl guy, is that these get a digital release somehow! Whether it be through CD or iTunes/Amazon/Qobuz/Pono/etc.!

Maybe I'll elbow my way to the Doors-album too. More resounding punch is promised by John Densmore.

I'm interested in how many copies were made of each release, and I'm curious why the amounts here differ from those on the Record Store Day site. http://download.recordstoreday.com/free/RSD_2015_RELEASES_WEBSITE.pdf
In particular, the amounts differ for Bee Gees, R.E.M./Syd Barrett, Gram Parson/Lemonheads, Tomorrow and Dionne Warwick/Stranglers. Are these worldwide numbers and RSD list U.S. numbers? Or some other explanation?
