Yesterday Cried: Run Out Groove to Reissue Golden Smog, Voting Open for Folk Favorites

PRE-ORDER NOW FROM RUN OUT GROOVE

Run Out Groove continues to re-present rarities from the Warner Music Group vaults with the announcement of its latest high quality vinyl release.

Based on the results of the label’s fan vote, Golden Smog’s Down by the Old Mainstream has been selected as the next limited edition, numbered ROG title.  The Minneapolis collective made its first big splash in 1995 with this debut album on the Rykodisc label.  It hasn’t been available on vinyl since 2010.  Featuring members of The Jayhawks, Wilco, Soul Asylum, Run Westy Run and Big Star, among other bands, Golden Smog’s loose and relaxed take on roots-rock was both fun (the band members used pseudonyms) and filled with impeccable musicianship.  The LP includes such indie-rock luminaries as Jeff Tweedy, Gary Louris, and Dan Murphy.

The new deluxe vinyl edition will be packaged in a gatefold, tip-on Stoughton jacket with printed inner sleeves. Fans can vote on the color of the 180-gram vinyl records that will be pressed at Record Industry.  Down by the Old Mainstream is available for pre-order until March 8, and it will then be pressed and numbered based on the amount of total orders.  (More details on color options are available at ROG’s Facebook page.)

Down by the Old Mainstream is available to order exclusively via Run Out Groove’s website until March 8.  After the pre-order period closes, the only way to purchase a copy will be via participating music retailers while supplies last.

But that’s not all.  It’s also time to vote on the next title to receive the ROG treatment.  February has been Folk Month at the label, and so the choices are as follows!  All descriptions below come directly from the fine folks at Run Out Groove!

Judee Sill – Songs of Rapture and Redemption: Rarities & Live: If voted to win, this brand new collection from the folk songwriter would include demos and live tracks making their debut on vinyl, as well as brand new artwork and liner notes. Deluxe packaging to include a gatefold Stoughton tip-on jacket with 180g vinyl pressed at Record Industry.

The Incredible String Band – The Hangman’s Beautiful Daughter: If voted to win, ROG will bring back this psychedelic-folk classic in mono and issue it in the original U.K. sleeve art. Deluxe packaging to include a single sleeve Stoughton tip-on jacket with 180g multi-color vinyl pressed at Record Industry.

David Blue – David Blue: If voted to win, Blue’s debut for Elektra will be reissued for the first time since the original release in 1966, offered in elusive mono and sourced from the original analog tapes. Deluxe packaging to include a single sleeve Stoughton tip-on jacket with 180g vinyl pressed at Record Industry.
