3-LP color vinyl: MusicVaultz / JPC.de

The studio bonus tracks include a full-length version of the album cut "Who Cares," as well as "Get Started" and "Nothing For Free" from the Target-exclusive edition of Egypt Station, the recent single "Get Enough," and the new songs "Frank Sinatra's Party" and "Sixty Second Street." Egypt Station: Explorer's Edition will arrive in various configurations: 2-CD, 3-LP on black vinyl, and 3-LP on color vinyl. A digital version will also be available under the name Egypt Station: Deluxe Edition.

David Bowie, Clareville Grove Demos (Parlophone) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Clareville Grove Demos features six 1969 home recordings (four previously unreleased) from the late David Bowie, all performed with singer/guitarist John "Hutch" Hutchinson, his former cohort in the trio Feathers (alongside then-girlfriend Hermione Farthingale). Several of these tracks were heard in final form on Bowie's self-titled 1969 album, including "Space Oddity," "An Occasional Dream" and "Cygnet Committee" (known here as "Lover To The Dawn"). A different demo of "Ching-a-Ling" appeared on the 2010 deluxe edition of Bowie's 1967 self-titled album for Deram Records, while "Let Me Sleep Beside You" is well-known, particularly when it was dusted off at the turn of the 21st century for inclusion on the unissued Toy album (that version appears on the compilation Nothing Has Changed). These demos are pressed on three mono 45s designed after the original acetates.  Read more here!

6-CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
1-CD: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada
2-LP: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada

Just For a Moment: The Music, 1973-1997 collects four of Ronnie Lane's solo albums in a lavish box: 1974's Anymore for Anymore (along with its contemporaneous singles); Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance, also from 1974; One For the Road (1976); and his 1979 effort, See Me. Also featured are tracks from his collaborative albums such as Rough Mix with Pete Townshend and the Mahoney's Last Stand soundtrack. The first four discs are supplemented with bonus tracks, including singles, B-sides, alternate takes, live recordings, rare studio sessions, and other unreleased goodies. Disc 5, meanwhile, includes live material from the German Rockpalast series from 1980, as well as session takes, demos and live recordings. Dionne Warwick, She's Back/Dionne Sings Dionne (eOne/Urban) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

It's been more than fifty years since Dionne Warwick first graced listeners with her inimitable interpretations of popular songs. Now, in collaboration with her son Damon Elliot, Warwick is back with new material, including a new version of "What The World Needs Now Is Love." Also appearing are Kenny Lattimore ("What Color Is Love"), Musiq Soulchild ("Am I Dreaming?) and Bone, Thugs & Harmony's Krayzie Bone ("Déjà Vu"). In addition to the new recordings, She's Back will include a bonus disc with her 1998 album Dionne Sings Dionne - a collection of re-tooled versions of her classics. The 1998 album has been remastered for this release.

Cher, 3614 Jackson Highway: Expanded [2-LP] (Run Out Groove) (purchase from your favorite brick-and-mortar shop)

Cher's sixth album took her out of the environs of Hollywood and into Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Supported by the great musicians there including Eddie Hinton, David Hood, Roger Hawkins, Jimmy Johnson, and Barry Beckett, as well as producers Jerry Wexler, Arif Mardin, and Tom Dowd, it was intended to showcase a side of Cher previously unknown. (The title refers to the address of the Muscle Shoals studio.) It featured songs by Bob Dylan as well as Stephen Stills, Otis Redding and Steve Cropper, Dan Penn and Chips Moman and Spooner Oldham, and Dr. John.  In 2001, Rhino Handmade reissued it on CD with twelve bonus tracks primarily produced by Sonny Bono, including Cher's renditions of "Easy to Be Hard," "You've Made Me So Very Happy," "Superstar," Goffin and King's "Yours Until Tomorrow," and even the dramatic "Momma Look Sharp" from 1776 but equally relevant to the Vietnam era.  This vinyl premiere from Run Out Groove features all of the Rhino Handmade bonus tracks except for the alternate stereo version from the Chastity soundtrack of "Chastity's Song," making for a near-complete account of Cher's solo Atco recordings.  3614 Jackson Highway: Expanded Edition will be pressed on 180-gram clear and purple mixed vinyl at Record Industry, and will be housed in a gatefold tip-on jacket.

Jimmy Webb, SlipCover: Piano Arrangements (S-Curve) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

On his latest album on S-Curve records, the famed songwriter takes on the work of other inimitable composers, including Brian Wilson, Jagger & Richards, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell. Among the classic tracks that Webb reinterprets on piano are "Old Friends," "Pretty Ballerina," "God Only Knows," "A Case of You," "Moonlight Mile," and "The Long and Winding Road."

Manfred Mann, Radio Days, Vol. 1: The Paul Jones Era, Live at the BBC 1964-66 (Creature/Umbrella) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Manfred Mann, Radio Days, Vol. 2: The Mike D'Abo Era, Live at the BBC 1966-69 (Creature/Umbrella) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Manfred Mann Chapter III, Radio Days, Vol. 3: Live Sessions & Studio Rarities (Creature/Umbrella) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)
Manfred Mann's Earth Band, Radio Days, Vol. 4: Live at the BBC, 1970-73 (Creature/Umbrella) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

In this series of four vault-raiding titles, Mannfred Mann (and its other iterations and lineups) celebrate their BBC sessions over the years to the tune of 142 tracks, most of which are previously unreleased. Each title spans two discs and concentrates on a particular era of the band's varied history. Volume 1 features Manfred Mann's original lineup and documents the group's initial flurry of hits including "Pretty Flamingo" and "Sha La La." This volume also features Jack Bruce on a number of tracks, who would soon go on to form Cream. Aside from songs recorded on such programs as Saturday Club, Pop Inn, and Top Gear, the collection also features rare interviews with presenters that contextualize their early days as they rose to fame. (CD links are above; vinyl versions can be purchased here: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Volume 2 concentrates on the Mike D'Abo-led lineup during their days on the Fontana label from 1966-1969. Among the tracks are "Just Like A Woman," "Ha! Ha! Said The Clown," "Hound Dog," and "The Mighty Quinn." The collection spotlights 45 tracks, all but one of which are previously unreleased. (CD links are above; vinyl versions can be purchased here: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Volume 3 spotlights the radio appearances of Manfred Mann Chapter Three along with soundtrack recordings, studio gems, and jingles. Chapter Three arose after the break up of the Mike D'Abo lineup. The group was led by Mann and Mike Hugg and saw the pair entering more free-form territory. Aside from BBC sessions, this volume also includes radio work from Sweden and Australia, as well as the debut of the entire Venus in Furs soundtrack. (CD links are above; vinyl versions can be purchased here: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Finally, Volume 4 covers the first lineup of Manfred Mann's Earth Band with BBC recordings from 1970-1973. Every track is previously unreleased. It includes the band's earliest BBC appearance, before they adopted the Earth Band name. There are also In Concert sessions from 1971 (Paris Theatre, London) and 1973 (Golders Green Hippodrome, London), a 1971 John Peel session, and a number of other gigs recorded for radio. All the titles in the Radio Days series are remastered and have been released with the full approval of the featured artists. (CD links for Volume 4 are above; vinyl versions can be purchased here: Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

Zee (featuring Richard Wright and Dave "Dee" Harris), Identity: 2019 Deluxe Edition (Gonzo) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada)

In what remains one of the strangest partnerships in rock history, former Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright met up with Dave "Dee" Harris -- formerly of the elecro-pop outfit Fashion -- for a one-off album called Identity. Released under the monikor Zee, the experimental album featured a great deal of Fairlight synthesizer. As Wright remembered: "We spent hours and hours just experimenting with it at first. The great thing about the Fairlight is that every time you go back to it you learn something else. We had to get control over it though because it would have been very easy just to have ended up making funny noises. We spent several weeks sequencing and scripting everything but it was all worth it in the end." Wright looked back on the project as an experiment. "For me it is exciting working with Dave," he said, "because there were things that he was doing that I had not done before and vice versa. I think that Zee has given us musical opportunities that quite frankly neither of us were able to explore in our previous groups." Identity will be reissued by Gonzo as a deluxe box set with remastered audio and a wealth of bonus tracks, including a bonus album of unreleased mixes and demos.

Sam Stone has been obsessed with catalog music ever since his folks gave him a Contours best-of collection for his fourth birthday. He quickly began to learn all he could about rock and roll history and beyond, a passion that continues to this day. Sam followed his love for music to the classroom, earning a B.A. from Towson University in Electronic Media and Film, concentrating on radio and audio production, as well as an M.A. in Audio Arts from Syracuse University. He has put his knowledge and skills to work at prominent reissue labels and is excited to bring his perspectives on catalog music to a broader audience. When he’s not writing for The Second Disc, Sam can be found researching about music, talking about Joni Mitchell’s career, and adding another box set to his Amazon wish list.

Any reason why "Diamonds" chops off the last half minute of "Little Jeannie"? The disc would have room, although not much, for the whole song. Are there any other songs on this comp which are not the original mixes or edits?
