Real Gone Music is at it again with a slate of overlooked classics due for reissue on vinyl this February and March.  First up, there’s The Donnas’ Gold Medal, a power-pop favorite from 2004 that features the radio hit “Fall Behind Me.”  The Butch Walker-produced album marked a new direction for the band as they embraced a ’70s-inspired psychedelic sound evoked visually by the very groovy artwork.  Due on February 28, Real Gone’s black-and-gold splatter vinyl edition will reproduce all the visual elements of the original issue, including the poster and the printed inner sleeve.  The pressing is limited to only 750 copies, so fans will want to act quickly to secure a copy!

For fans of funk, Real Gone offers up a lost classic by guitarist Willie Hale under the alias Little Beaver, Party Down.  This edition marks the first U.S. LP reissue of the excellent album.  By the time Party Down was released in 1974, Hale was already a sought-after guitarist having worked with Betty Wright, Timmy Thomas, Gwen McCrae, Swamp Dogg, and others.  Party Down not only features Thomas and Wright, but also bass phenom Jaco Pastorius under the name Nelson “Jocko” Padron.  The new edition of the oft-sampled album is newly remastered by Mike Milchner at SonicVisoin and is pressed on metallic gold vinyl.  It’s limited to just 1,000 copies so place those pre-orders before they sell out.

Last but not least is a reissue of Sean Bonniwell’s The Bonniwell Music Machine, also due out on March 6.  Originally released after the breakup of “Talk Talk” hitmakers The Music Machine, this solo effort never quite found the success it deserved.  Warner Bros. withdrew its support of the 1968 album shortly after the first two singles, “Double Yellow Line” and “The Eagle Never Hunts the Fly,” failed to ignite interest in the listening public.  Over time, the deleted album garnered a cult-like following and it was eventually released on Ace Records in 2014.  Real Gone’s olive green pressing is the first-ever vinyl reissue of this ’60s classic.  Limited to 900 copies, it’s absolutely positively a classic, sure to please any discerning collector and fan.
