On November 15, Phil Collins, Tony Banks, and Mike Rutherford are planning to take the stage at Chicago's United Center as Genesis to launch the band's first North American tour since 2007.  (The European leg kicked off in September.)  The tour is entitled The Last Domino? (note the question mark), and four days after its debut, Rhino in the U.S. and Virgin/UMC in the U.K. will release a companion collection.  The Last Domino?, the album, is due on November 19 and will offer 27 tracks, including hits and deep cuts, on 2 CDs or 4 LPs.

The Last Domino? has been curated in conjunction with the band and the majority of its songs will be heard on North American tour stages this year.  It's sequenced non-chronologically - rather like a concert setlist - blending tracks from Genesis' prog period (including samplings from Selling England by the Pound, Wind and Wuthering, and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) with later, more pop-leaning material including the single hits "Follow You, Follow Me" (No. 23 U.S./No. 7 U.K.), "Invisible Touch" (No. 1 U.S./No. 15 U.K.), "Throwing It All Away" (No. 4 U.S./No. 22 U.K.), "In Too Deep" (No. 3 U.S./No. 19 U.K.), "I Can't Dance" (No. 7 U.S. & U.K.), and "Hold on My Heart" (No. 12 U.S./No. 16 U.K.).  Conspicuously absent from the collection are the hits "Misunderstanding" (No. 14 U.S./No. 42 U.K.) and "No Reply at All" (No. 29 U.S. Pop/No. 2 U.S. Mainstream Rock).

With the departure of guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Steve Hackett in 1976 after the album Wind & Wuthering - Anthony Phillips had left after 1970's Trespass and Peter Gabriel after 1975's The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway - the streamlined trio began to concentrate on streamlined music.  "Follow You, Follow Me" became Genesis' first U.K. top ten hit and U.S. top 30 single, setting the stage for the international success of the string of albums including Duke (1980), Abacab (1981), Genesis (1983), Invisible Touch (1986), and We Can't Dance (1991).  Genesis soared concurrently with Phil Collins' solo career which began with 1981's Face Value and its massive hit "In the Air Tonight."  Collins left Genesis in mid-1995, confirming the news early the next year; Banks and Rutherford pressed on with one album, 1997's Calling All Stations, without him.  It remains Genesis' final studio album to date.

The 4-LP set of The Last Domino? will be housed in a hardcover gatefold book-style package featuring includes rare and unseen images as well as fresh photos from the rehearsals of The Last Domino? tour.  Note that there are fewer tracks here than on 2004's out-of-print The Platinum Collection which boasted 40 songs on 3 CDs.  2014's R-Kive took a completely different approach, including solo cuts from Collins, Gabriel, Hackett, Rutherford (with his band Mike + The Mechanics), and Banks alongside Genesis favorites.
