Vince Guaraldi, It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown (Lee Mendelson) (LP) (1,200 copies)
Lee Mendelson Film Productions (LMFP) is thrilled to announce the release - for the first time ever - from recently rediscovered tapes - the complete Vince Guaraldi soundtrack to It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown, the timeless 6th animated Peanuts special, from writer and creator Charles Schulz, director Bill Melendez, and producers Melendez and Lee Mendelson. Originally aired on September 27, 1969 on CBS-TV. The album includes the original recordings that comprise the cues from the special across twenty-six tracks, plus another six alternative tracks that have never been released or heard before. Guaraldi lovingly created the soundtrack for the summer camp adventure where Charlie Brown and his gang face off against the girls' camp led by Peppermint Patty. The large jazz combo album also includes the best rendition of Guaraldi classic, "Love Will Come (Nova Bossa)" as well as the first use of additional percussion in Victor Feldman. The recording features Guaraldi (piano), Monty Budwig (double bass), Jack Sperling (drums), Conti and Pete Candoli (trumpet), Frank Rosolino (trombone), Victor Feldman (percussion), Herb Ellis (guitar), Willian Hood and Peter Christlieb (woodwind), and John Scott Trotter as the orchestra leader. The soundtrack was produced by Sean and Jason Mendelson and restored and re-mastered by Vinson Hudson. This exclusive Record Store Day 2024 release is pressed on Camp Green Vinyl and includes a 12", 4-page insert featuring liner notes that give a track-by-track analysis by Derrick Bang (author of Vince Guaraldi at the Piano) and notes from Sean and Jason Mendelson, sons of Peanuts producer Lee Mendelson. The album packaging also includes images from the special and images of historical documents from the found tapes.
George Harrison, Electronic Sound (Zoetrope Picture Disc) (LP) (3,400 copies (U.S.)) / Wonderwall Music (Zoetrope Picture Disc) (LP) (3,400 copies (U.S.))
Dark Horse Records and Record Store Day are excited to announce a multi-year partnership to release limited Zoetrope picture disc pressings of George Harrison's entire studio album catalog. The first two titles in the RSD exclusive series -- Wonderwall Music and Electronic Sound -- will be available on Record Store Day in April 2024. Limited to 8,000 units globally and exclusive to Record Store Day, each unit is individually numbered in silver foil and includes an insert reproducing the original artwork. As a direct result of The Beatles' keen curiosity about experimental music and other avant-garde artistic expression, Apple Records launched its short-lived Zapple subsidiary in February 1969 as a forum for unfettered sonic exploration, or, as announced at the time, "more freaky sounds." George's Electronic Sound and John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions, both released in May 1969, were Zapple's only releases before it was closed down. Electronic Sound's cover art, painted by George, depicts his Moog IIIp synthesizer (which was later used on four tracks by The Beatles on their album Abbey Road) with the four modules from which the sound was synthesized. Each side of the Electronic Sound LP featured one exploratory long-form work.
Released in November 1968, George Harrison's Wonderwall Music was the first solo album released by a member of The Beatles and the first LP to be released by Apple Records. The soundtrack music for director Joe Massot's debut feature-length film, Wonderwall, the predominantly instrumental album is an intricate, vibrant tapestry of Western rock music and compositions in an Indian classical style.
Huun-Huur-Tu, Rizzo, and Dhani Harrison, Dreamers in the Field (Dark Horse) (LP) (800 copies)
Dark Horse Records is proud to announce the release of Dreamers in the Field, the first-ever collaboration between Huun-Huur-Tu, Carmen Rizzo and Dhani Harrison.
Little Richard, Right Now! (Omnivore) (LP) (1,200 copies, RSD First)
In January of 1973 Little Richard went to Muscle Shoals to record an album's worth of material on the heels of his successful releases for Reprise Records. Unfortunately, the material was only ever released in the US in 1973 on United Records and then again in France in 1975 on Musidisc. The album hasn't been reissued properly on its own since, making this special pressing, available first on Record Store Day, the first appearance of this material since the '70s! Included among the tracks are Little Richard's covers of "Chain of Fools" and "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay," plus fresh takes on songs he cut during his tenure at Reprise, "Greenwood, Mississippi" (from 1970's The Rill Thing) and "In the Name" (from 1971's King of Rock and Roll and 2020's Southern Child). Bill Dahl continues to tell the Little Richard story through his new liner notes for the set and this release, following in the footsteps of the very successful Southern Child RSD release, will be presented on unique Sunflare colored vinyl. The audio is restored and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Michael Graves.
Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, and Marty Stuart, Sweetheart of the Rodeo 50th Anniversary Live (Friday Music) (2LP) (2,500 copies, RSD First)
2019 was a magical year as legendary Byrds co-founders Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman joined forces with superstar Marty Stuart to celebrate 50 years of The Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo album. During their sold-out tour, several of the shows were taped and preserved and now Friday Music is very pleased to announce the deluxe double LP set of Sweetheart of the Rodeo - 50th Anniversary Live. All the great songs from the epic 1968 release are now presented live and this first-time-ever release includes more Byrds classics like "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Turn Turn Turn" and a rare one-time-only tour performance of "Eight Miles High." This album is impeccably mastered for vinyl by longtime Byrds fan and friend Joe Reagoso, and will be pressed for the first time anywhere on double translucent gold vinyl in a stunning gatefold cover, featuring the rare Jo Mora artwork elements from the 1968 Byrds masterwork, coupled with new interview and liner notes with Roger, Chris, and Marty. Truly a sensational recording and a stellar document of one of the greatest tours of our time.
The Monkees, The Birds, The Bees, and The Monkees: Mono Edition (Friday Music) (LP) (2,000 copies, RSD First)
Their 1968 classic smash album, in monophonic sound, on stunning coral vinyl in a gatefold cover, a lot of firsts! Features their smash hit singles "Daydream Believer" and "Valleri," plus fan favorites "I'll Be Back Upon My Feet," "Zor and Zam," and "Tapioca Tundra." This album is mastered impeccably from the Colgems Records 1968 mono tapes by longtime Monkees reissue producer Joe Reagoso.

The remarkable, groundbreaking album arrives like a jet-fueled rush of white-hot R&B - just like a night down at The Crawdaddy Club in 1963, as the band stamped their mark on a series of classics such as "Route 66," "Carol," and "Can I Get A Witness." Pressed on 180g blue/black swirled vinyl, this limited-edition release includes a lithograph with images by Terry O'Neill and stamp-numbering on the jacket.
Todd Rundgren, Liars (Cleopatra) (LP) (1,500 copies, RSD First)
Originally released in 2004, this special RSD release commemorates the 20th Anniversary of its original release date!
Nancy Sinatra, How Does That Grab You? (Light in the Attic) (LP) (2,000 copies)
Less than two weeks after "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" made it to the top of the charts, Nancy was back in the studio working on the follow-up. With a newfound confidence and a fresh batch of songs, How Does That Grab You? is a snapshot that captures the fun, creativity, and genius of an artist embracing her moment. The album includes the sparse masterpiece "Bang, Bang," the "Boots"-esque "How Does That Grab You, Darlin'?" and Nancy & Lee Hazlewood's very first duet, the proto-psychedelic "Sand." Equal parts strong, sultry, and savvy, Nancy Sinatra has long been ahead of her time--both in her choices as an artist and as a businesswoman. Unapologetically, she established her own path early on and paved the way for decades of female artists to come--all while firmly maintaining control over her career, her image, and her music. In 1965, Nancy Sinatra changed the face of music, fashion, and culture. This RSD-Exclusive edition is pressed on Orange Cream wax and freshly remastered from the original analog tapes by John Baldwin. It includes two bonus tracks: "The Last of the Secret Agents?" and the previously unreleased "If Things Don't Start Picking Up." The gatefold includes a 20-page booklet with a Q&A between Nancy and reissue producer Hunter Lea plus previously unpublished photos from Nancy's archive.
