The Scottish prog-rock group Tear Gas formed at the tail end of the '60s. By the time this second album was released on the Regal Zonophone label, their line-up included guitarist Zal Kleminson, bassist Chris Glenn, drummer Ted McKenna, and Hugh McKenna on keys and vocals. The following August, the group would join guitarist Alex Harvey to make up The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. But until then, their second album displayed excellence in musicianship and material. Harmony In My Head: UK Power Pop & New Wave, 1977-81
This 3-CD set is a musical exploration of the development of British New Wave. While in the U.S. "new wave" was a lose term applied to pretty much any pop that came out in the late '70s and early '80s, U.K. purveyors used the term to refer to their deliberate reaction to, if not rejection of, the punk musical aesthetic. It eventually mutated into the Mod Revival--members of which drew greatly from the melody-driven pop of the '60s--and later to another unique British psychedelic strand in the
Easy Rider [LP]
Lead Belly's Easy Rider was originally released in 1953, compiled by Folkways' founder Moses Asch from recordings from the early-to-mid-'40s. The material largely focuses on Lead Belly's observations of hate and discrimination that permeated the culture at the time. "Bourgeois Blues" and "Jim Crow," for example, address the discrimination he and others incurred, while "Hitler Song" serves as a condemnation of anti-Semitism. The packaging for this new vinyl reissue has been lovingly
Ballads, Blues, and A Spiritual [LP]
Dave Van Ronk's Ballads, Blues, and A Spiritual was the debut album by the legendary figure of the folk music revival who went on to be dubbed "The Mayor of MacDougall Street." Here, Van Ronk accompanies himself on guitar while singing, in his trademark gravelly tone, fourteen traditional folk and blues tunes. From "In The Pines" and "Careless Love" to John Henry" and "Betty and Dupree," the material on Ballads, Blues, and A Spiritual cemented Dave Van Ronk's reputation as a unique and
Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry Sing [LP]

The packaging for this new vinyl reissue has been lovingly redesigned using the original prints, materials, and photographs. The music has been remastered from the original analog master tapes by Grammy-winning sound engineer, Pete

Don't Step On My Groove: Expanded Reissues of Bananarama's "Drama" and "Viva" Arriving in January
There were few "girl groups" as prolific and successful during the MTV era as Bananarama. The London-formed pop group had a long string of Top 10 U.K. and U.S. singles during the '80s, including "It Ain't What You Do...," "Really Saying Something," "Shy Boy," and covers of Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" and The Shocking Blue's "Venus." Their popularity on the charts and on the dance floor continues, with the group tallying up an impressive 28 Top 50 U.K. singles from 1982 to 2009.

Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack [Red, Blue, and Green Vinyl]
In 1967, counterculture icon Timothy Leary, his partner Rosemary, and his fellow adventurer Ralph Metzner created a film called Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out. The film presumably documents an LSD trip undertaken by Metzner, although the film rarely, if ever, showed in theaters so the jury's out on the content. Nevertheless, Mercury Records released a soundtrack, also entitled Tune In, Turn On, Drop Out. Not to be confused with the spoken word album of the same name that arrived on the ESP-Disk
Mahoney's Last Stand [Green Vinyl]
Mahoney's Last Stand was Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane's soundtrack to the film of the same name. Though the film and its soundtrack were produced in 1972--Wood and Lane cut the tracks in between sessions for Ooh La La--neither production saw the light of day until 1976. The film was a flop but the star power of the soundtrack have afforded it a cult following in the decades since. The sessions were produced by Glyn Johns and feature Pete Townshend on guitar and electronics, plus session

I know--because I saw the film without the music, and it's a
