Outlaw Man: Cherry Red, Morello Collect Four Albums from Singer-Songwriter David Blue

David Blue might be best-known for two things: writing “Outlaw Blues” on Eagles’ Desperado album, and being a friend and occasional sidekick of Bob Dylan’s. Yet he recorded seven albums (plus a major contribution to an eighth, the 1965 Elektra anthology Singer Songwriter Project) between 1965 and 1976 in addition to making appearances on stage and film before his untimely death in 1982. Cherry Red’s Morello imprint has recently celebrated the late folk troubadour with a four-albums-on-two-CDs set comprising one of his two Reprise LPs and three of his four Asylum sets….

Mercy! Expanded Edition of Roy Orbison’s “Black and White Night” Arriving on Vinyl TODAY!

By the middle of the ’80s, Roy Orbison was primed for a comeback.  In 1986, his epic ballad “In Dreams” was placed prominently in David Lynch’s film Blue Velvet, which sparked renewed interest in the velvet-voiced crooner and rocker.  The following year, The “Big O” staged the ultimate comeback concert with a remarkable lineup of guests including Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Elvis Costello, J.D. Welcome to this week’s Release Round-Up! Prince, Nothing Compares 2 U  (Warner Bros.) (Amazon U.S. / Amazon U.K. / Amazon Canada) Prince’s original recording of “Nothing Compares 2 U” arrives on vinyl today for wide release.  The original Prince studio version was recorded at the Flying Cloud Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota by engineer Susan Rogers and featured background vocals by Susannah Melvoin and Paul “St. Paul” Peterson as well as saxophone by Eric Leeds.
