A Case of You: Rhino’s Record Store Day Black Friday Slate Includes The Doors, Eagles, Genesis, Joni Mitchell, More
Today’s the day! The Record Store Day Black Friday list is here, ramping up anticipation for the annual event which takes place at brick-and-mortar stores this year on Friday, November 27. We’ll be rolling out more announcements, but as expected, Rhino has one of the day’s most generous offerings with a slate of over 20 titles scheduled to arrive in independent shops everywhere. The label has brought out many of its heaviest hitters, including The Doors, Eagles, Genesis, Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, and others. The B-52s, Meso-Americans Live 1982 (2LP on Third Pyramid Pink Vinyl, limited to 5,000 copies)
Rhino has a breakout from The B-52’s recent Ancient Culture: Mesopotamia Revisited box with this 2LP live recording.
Brides of Funkenstein, Funk Or Walk (Rhino Reserve 1LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,800 copies)
The Brides’ 1978 LP produced by George Clinton returns in a Rhino Reserve edition.
The Doors, In The Beginning: 1966 Sessions (1LP translucent tan vinyl, limited to 7,000 copies)
The Doors’ August 29, 1966 session at Sunset Sound – during which “Moonlight Drive” and “Indian Summer” were recorded – comes to vinyl with multiple takes of both songs complete with studio chatter, false starts, etc.
Eagles, Please Come Home For Christmas/Funky New Year (12-inch Single on Clear Vinyl, limited to 6,000 copies)
Chris Bellman has remastered Eagles’ classic single for its first appearance on 12-inch vinyl.
Earth, Wind & Fire, Earth, Wind & Fire (Rhino Reserve 1LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,700 copies)
EWF’s 1971 debut which set the stage for the group’s later triumphs gets the Rhino Reserve treatment.
Funk Factory, Funk Factory (Rhino Reserve, 1LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,700 copies)
Another Rhino Reserve highlight is this reissue of the 1975 fusion classic featuring Polish jazz musician Michael Urbaniak and top-tier musicians from both Poland and the United States.
Genesis, Land of Confusion (40th Anniversary) (12-inch EP Picture Disc, limited to 1,850 copies)
Side 1 of this new EP features a 2026 remaster of the classic single from the analogue production masters at Abbey Road, as well as the extended remix of the track which was part of the original 12-inch single. Side 2 adds three non-album B-sides from the singles ‘In Too Deep’, ‘Land of Confusion’ and ‘Throwing It All Away’ (respectively, ‘Do the Neurotic,’ ‘Feeding the Fire,’ and ‘I’d Rather Be You,’ all newly remastered.

Grateful Dead, On A Back Porch Vol. 4 (1LP on 180-gram Black Vinyl, limited to 5,550 copies)
Two new Dead titles debut on RSD Black Friday: the full Carousel Ballroom concert that was the basis of the classic live/studio hybrid album Anthem of the Sun, and a fourth volume of “easy-listening live Dead.”

INXS, Welcome To Wherever You Are (1LP on Hot Pink Vinyl, limited to 4,000 copies)
Joni Mitchell, Live At Carnegie Hall, 1972 (2LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 5,000 copies)
Rhino breaks out this landmark recording, featuring live renditions of “Woodstock,” “The Circle Game,” “A Case of You,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” and more, from Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 3.

The Monkees, The Monkees: Sessions (1LP on Clear Vinyl, limited to 3,000 copies)
Rhino brings a cache of 1966 studio sessions (including alternate takes, demos, and remixes) from Micky, Davy, Peter, and Michael to this 1LP release.
Ramones, Subterranean Jungle Demos (1LP on Yellow Vinyl, limited to 5,500 copies)
This new LP offers 15 demos for Ramones’ seventh studio album, recorded in 1982 – their last at the time with Marky Ramone on drums. Eleven of the recordings are previously unreleased, but all make their vinyl debuts here.
Richard & Linda Thompson, Live, 1982: The Final Tour (2LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,500 copies)
Robert Hunter, Alligator Moon (1LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,500 copies)
Alligator Moon is the previously unreleased studio album from Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. Originally recorded in 1976 with the band Comfort and slated for release in 1978, it was ultimately shelved until now – with only a few of the songs seeing release on the 1982 compilation Promontory Rider.

10,000 Maniacs, Candy Everybody Wants: The Complete Elektra Studio Albums (6LP on Black Vinyl, limited to 2,600 copies)
This set has the band’s five Elektra studio albums plus a bonus disc of twelve rarities. It’s been produced under the supervision of Natalie Merchant herself.
